Train Control System on Railway
In the World, the developed countries are using certain protocols in railway works. Most commonly used are ETCS(Europe Traffic Control System) and ERTMS(Europe Rail Traffic Management System)..
Companies developing ERTMS systems include UNIFE/UNISIG members Alstom, Thales, Invensys Rail Group, Ansaldo STS, Siemens Mobility, Bombardier Transportation and Eliop-Seinalia.
I saw to use Siemens and Bombardier Tr. for the interlocking jobs. I will touch on the interlocking in the other writing. Companies win the tender and give the interlocking job to other company which have ETCS in Turkey. And you can see that no company have the certificate in Turkey. So there is a very large gain for these 7 companies. But this is the other topic..
Now i will explain how can we control a train on railway.
There is three basic title;
ATC (Automatic Train Control)
ATP (Automatic Train Protect)
ATO (Automatic Train Operation)
Automatic Train Control(ATC)
This system for control the train, generally aimed at halting the train. You can stop the train with a magnetic equipment or with signalling.
Automatic Train Protect(ATP)
This is for protect the traing from high speed. When a train enter the curve ATP interfere to traing for continue slower. This is vital importance for the passengers.
Automatic Train Operation(ATO)
ATO is responsible for all the operating things. A train can run without an operator if it have ATO.
This writing was a introduction for control systems on railway. I will tell about these separately next time..
