Autumn Dream
Kinda just Dreamt of t his so its called Autumn Dream.
The autumn king has been living in his manor all his life and barely leaves; but when he does, he goes to where the red leaves fall. He was soft and gentle. Even though he may be the lord of his home he helps around the house and always takes care of his people. Everyone liked him... But could not love him. Because he couldn’t love them back. He is sincere in all he does yet empty in the same time.
People come and go in his mansion. They stay for a while; they took care of him as he took care of them. Once they’ve found what they needed, a dream, they leave. No one remained for good because even though there were a lot of people who were loving and caring for one another, the house felt empty.
One ordinary day a traveller came to visit and the autumn king welcomed her. She was a lovely lady but her face could only show one expression. Her eyes were blank; emptier than the lord’s heart can ever be for his heart still had hope. But then and there, the autumn king knew they were similar.
He greets her ‘good morning’ in the hallway and she replied an insult. The autumn king was speechless, confused with the treatment and the new sensation he felt. I didn’t know what to do. He felt anger. The same thing happened the next day and the next. Before he knew it, he had already been arguing with her. The manor slowly became livelier ever since.
Despite of their disagreement, he toured her around the town. He even brought her to his favourite place. Somehow he was no longer the autumn king he knew he was. The heart of an empty man became filled with wonders. Soon enough, the autumn king’s new found curiosity pushed him to ask her what it felt like to travel. Lonely. She did not falter.
Lonely not because she was alone in her voyage. It is because she has been travelling most of her life and not one of the places she visited inspire her.
The autumn king felt the pain in her words yet her eyes remain blank as it was when she first came. It was not the heart whose empty like his but the eyes. Her eyes, which were almost the representation of magnificence itself, could not see beauty in life. His heart ached.
Another month has passed and her eyes remained empty. The autumn king did all he could think of that might help but his deed did not affect her. Once again he brought her to his favourite spot; this time, with a heavy heart. He sighed as he was looking at her and her to him. Then the young lady leaned closer to him and stretched her arms upward. Upon her index fingers reaching both ends of his lips, she fixed them for a smile. Surprised by the gesture, he laughed and did the same to her. His smile disappeared slowly and his heart grew heavier.
That event led the female traveller to a decision to leave the next morning. After hiding her tanto inside her obi, her preparations for her departure is complete. She exits the manor as the people bid her farewell without knowing that the Autumn King awaits her outside. He was wearing an unusual yukata and was wearing a unique haori. He seemed to be armed with a katana. Before she could speak, the Autumn king approached her and told her that he decided to travel alone as well. What about the manor? The land and manor is entitled to him and no one would ever dream of claiming it knowing that it was his; he ensured her.
That day, he made a promise to her and started his journey in a direction opposite to hers
