While the eyes of the world were focused on Pluto and New Horizons this week, an Atlas 5 rocket lofted the tenth GPS IIF satellite to orbit, Wednesday July 15, 2015. Liftoff occurred at 10:37 am EDT from SLC-41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. Atlas V flew in its 401 configuration, indicating a four-meter payload fairing, no strap on solid rocket motors, and a single-engine Centaur. It was the 55th Atlas 5 to launch since 2002 and 97th flight for the United Launch Alliance. The mission brochure for GPS IIF-10 can be seen by clicking here. Photos: ULA.
