To me being Latina means always having people in your corner. Despite our differences, the Latin community is very loving and supportive, cue all the beans, rice, and platanos you could ever need. We always look out for each other, and knowing that you have people cheering for you is a great feeling.
Thus far being Latina hasn't affected my career except for that one time sophomore year when I was cast in the junior/senior show because I could do a "latin" accent. As for the future, it's wishful thinking to think being Latina won't make a difference [in my career]. It's definitely going to be a challenge pero tengo mi comunidad de artistas detras de mi.
