She tried, as a general rule, not to make a nuisance of herself in public on accident. (On purpose was an entirely different story, and usually involved Amos.) But the moral of the story was that she did try and behave. Alice was the one that got to mouth off and misbehave in public, bless her. 

Edith really hadn’t meant to bowl Avalon over on her way out of the Leaky Cauldron. “Oh Merlin’s beard, I’m so sorry.” She said as she skidded to a halt to try and help the girl back up. “I wasn’t paying enough attention, are you okay?”

“I hope you know what we did that day was both stupid and awesome.” Kodi flopped down onto the barstool beside Avalon at the little Irish pub. “My office is never gonna let us work together again.” Avalon was maybe as much of an adrenaline junkie as Kodi was, which was dangerous in a Cursebreaker-Auror pair. 

Hey, anything to feel something, right?

“So, what do you think about the Harpies’ chances? I almost didn’t come today. Felt wrong leaving the Ministry for any reason with how wild everything is right now. But the Harpies are the coolest.” Work and girls, that was all there was. “Or--I mean, I guess you could be supporting the Cannons.” 

Kodi didn’t know all that much about the intricacies of Quidditch rivalries. She was just gay.

Like Nellie, like George, Avalon was one of those survivors of the Battle of Hogwarts left in the shadow of a fallen brother. Neville was Avalon’s age, so he’d never been a personal friend of Gwaine, but his gran had long admired the Balinors. That was enough for Neville to get over his aversion to Slytherins for Avalon, especially once she began to aid Dumbledore’s Army. 

Of course, those bonds forged during a time of war were shakier in a time of peace--sometimes he didn’t know what was left to talk about that wouldn’t unearth old ghosts. 

Still, he waved when he saw her. “Funny to see you in the green again and not for Slytherin! But it’s great to root for the same team for once,” he joked. She was a pretty amazing player, back in the day.
