my head hurts but instead of sleeping i'm gonna explain the lore of a (not super) original species i have for a story i'm making :DDDDD
so they're called Avarats. they can have really any form (but you often see them as human) but no matter what the shape is, they're completely black. and as much of their skin is possible is covered in eyes. they don't often have any other features but sometimes!! for example, Match (the friend of a protagonist, Danyon): she has short black hair and about 5 big screens around her head.
no one knows if they're entirely THERE. they're real of course, but maybe not completely tangible. not much is known about them because of two things: 1. they don't talk to people and you can only find them under certain circumstances 2. humans are scared of them BECAUSE nothing is known about them
avarats are kinda like the shadows out of the corner of your eye. one will appear when you turn your back and so you just turn your head and SEE ONE. it becomes less scary the more it happens of course. it doesn't happen everyday though, they disappear as soon as you look away as well.
here's where danyon comes in. he does a lot of driving. he sees a lot of avarats. that's because whenever he sees one, he'll talk to them. they appreciated this and started appearing more and more often. now it's normal for him to look to the side in his car, and see match sitting in the passenger seat. no avarat speaks back to him, but he's constantly talking to them anyways. he basically tamed a bunch of crows. match soon started talking back to him, and taught him the avarat's alphabet, so he can understand them. avarats are omnilingual, but only have the capacity to speak A'sA.
during would you rather (the death game that danyon is a part of), match sometimes shows up. he's completely fine with her. wheras the kid who leads the death game (leo) is terrified of her. he still tries to include her in the death game though. no one knows if avarats can die but he tries anyway. match can leave whenever she wants as well, so it couldn'tve worked if she could die.
