"Good morning, beautiful. Today is a very good day, for many reasons. I'm sorry I couldn't greet you with a kiss smelling like toothpaste - I had to get a few things done. I'll be back soon. Love, Mason."
Note number 2: In the Arm of the Bathrobe.
"I'm glad to see your beautiful self up and about! This isn't a coincidence -- you'll find more notes. For now they'll cover up the void of me, but they'll also give you a few instructions. Of course, it's not obligatory if you follow through. At the end of the day, maybe a little later than you expect, I'll still return. Love, Mason."
Note number 3: On the Door to the Bedroom.
"Let's get started. Bathroom mirror. Love, Mason."
Note number 4: On the Bathroom mirror.
"I just wanted to lure you here to really let you know how beautiful you are. And if you don't believe me, you've got proof right in front of you. Somehow, I do kinda think you believe me. But that's one of many things I love about you. Kitchen, next. Love, Mason."
Note number 5: On the Fridge.
"Second of many things. Even though you've taught me a lot, you'll always be a better cook than I am. (You can't deny me my chocolate scones, though!) And I want you to open the fridge and heat up the tastiest bacon-and-eggs with chocolate scones on the side breakfast you've ever had. And I'll see you this afternoon. Love, Mason."
Note number 6: On the Vase of flowers that stood inside of the fridge.
"I love you."
Note number 7: On the microwave.
"Alright, after you've had your breakfast, feel free to have a little leisure. A shower. Maybe check inside your closet. Love, Mason."
Note number 8: On the Box inside of the Closet.
"Not exclusively for my eyes, but it did make me think of you. Love, Mason."
Once the box is opened.
Note number 9: Inside the Box.
"I hope you liked it. But it's not all. Check the couch. Love, Mason."
Note number 10: On this dress, which is neatly hung over the couch.
"This is the last note you'll be able to read. Now you've got everything you need. I hope this hasn't been too messy. Either way, I'll see you at half past five this afternoon - you've all day to prepare, but be ready to leave in this when I return. Call me if you need anything. I love you, Ava. Love, Mason.
PS. Questions regarding these notes won't be answered! Just trust me. :)"
The drama between the three at the Comic Book party, Nov. 10, 2012.
Superman sends a mental kiss at Wonder Woman for her enthusiasm to chuck Cap' off a cliff -- oh wait. Turning up by her side, he grins somewhat, eyebrow cocked. "Wrestling beasts, are you? Seems your strength matches my own," he muses, shifting his gaze to the creature on the floor.
Wonder Woman laughed, petting Beast. "I think I've managed to turn this one into a house pet." She grinned, "Wrestling beasts was a little thing the Amazon teaches you." She bit her lip as she wondered, "How goes the honorary Valk?"
Superman raised his eyebrows with a grin. "Well, I s'pose the goat needs a companion," he mused, not objecting to the lion. "It is, huh? Sounds like a place I'd love to visit." Superman is willing to break Cap's neck if he breaks naything of Wonder Woman's, thank q.
Wonder Woman scowled down at Beast. "If you eat my goat we are no longer on speaking terms." She shrugged and grinned, "It's a bit humid there. Makes me hair frizz right up. I'd rather stay here, fight crime in a small town. Occasionally see my Super-boyfriend. Maybe kick some ass with him."
Superman chuckled somewhat, eyeing Beast before turning his grin to Wonder Woman. "Oh, well, when you put it like that." Mason slid his arms around her waist loosely. "Kick some ass and fight crime sounds like heaven. Although there's the slight risk of breaking beds involved somewhere within all that..."
Wonder Woman bit her lip, "Hm, well, a couple broken beds broken for the good of all mankind? I can't see that being so bad."
Superman chuckled somewhat, inclining his head to give them a tighter proximity. "If it doesn't harm anyone, counting beds and reaching a number might not be too bad, either," he mused, grinning at the thought of two of his childhood superheroes boning beds to splinters and keeping track of their number.
Wonder Woman laughed and raised herself on her tip-toes to try and reach his level, "You want a running count of how many beds we're to break?" She shook her head, "But then again, I'm Wonder Woman, I can do anything." She closed her eyes as she pressed her lips to Mason's, an arm winding around his neck, keeping her body close to his.
Superman opened his mouth to answer, though met her kiss, and took her in deep, the smirk that had formed on his lips now pressed against her lips gently. When they broke apart, the smirk was more of a smile. "Well, you know, I don't think it's common among most couples," he breathed, chuckling somewhat, his arms now stronger around her waist. His eyes traveled over her face, taking in her beauty. Something like pride shone from the muddy blue orbs. "How was the party yesterday?" he asked, a bit more quietly.
Captain America listened intently as she spoke, he wondered if all story formulas always had the main character set as the underdog. But then, that did make for a great story. He turned away from Raven for a bit, easily spotting the couple he had been trying to avoid all night. His jaw clenched in anger, as he saw them all snuggled up. This wasn't fair. Mason didn't deserve to be holding her like that, kissing her as he should have been able to. "Excuse me." He turned away from the story and walked over to Ava and Mason, without pausing, Luca shoved Mason away from Ava. "I've been watching you paw at her this whole time." He shook his head in disgust. "You don't get to touch her that way."
Superman was very unprepared for being unceremoniously pulled away from the tight embrace of his girlfriend, and paused for a moment, truly taken completely off guard by Luca. But then, the usual anger that always seemed to come with the other man set in, and he scowled. "It seems I have to point out that she is my girlfriend, so whatever screwed up right you think you have to tell her or me what to do, you can forget about it, Luca. Calm down, and leave us alone." He couldn't help but bristle, his body tense, remembering the last time this kind of argument had happened.
Wonder Woman watched the exchange between Mason and Luca and her anger simmered to boiling. She was done with this all, done with him, finished. Her eyes narrowed at Luca, "I'm absolutely done with you, Luca Whittaker. I was done with you the moment you decided that I wasn't enough for you." She sucked in a breath, her chest tightening at the memory. "I don't play second string for anyone and you made it clear when you slept with another woman that that's all I would ever be." She turned away from Luca and put her hand into Mason's. "I want you to understand that I don't love you, I could never love you." She looked down to their joined hands. "I love someone who actually loves me back and you need to realize that he isn't you."
Captain America flinched as Ava's words rained down on him. They scortched him as if acid was hailing down upon him. He watched as she spoke with such conviction, as she tried to tell him what she was so sure of herself. She was never going to be his. He fists clenched in anger. He isn't you. That was it. He was so tired of listening to her talk, just remind him of how much he would never be Mason. His fist shot out, catching Mason in the jaw with a right hook. He knew that from that moment on, he was as good as erased from Ava's mind. But when a man had nearly lost everything, such a detail wasn't as important.
Superman had averted his eyes, his chest swelling with pride for the woman he loved, the strong woman who could stand up for herself at any given time. He had averted his eyes to their hands, which, in that precise moment, symbolized such an important link, Mason was reminded forcibly of his feelings of heartbreak of the weeks before. His eyes shot up, thus, to look at Luca, not to glee, not to scowl, but to... well, as to what Mason had been directing at Luca, no one in this chatroom would ever find out, because a fist connected with his jaw and sent him tumbling to the floor. Stars were popping in front of his eyes, and he had to give it to the other man. Berserkers were damn strong. Getting to his feet, he rubbed his sore and aching jaw, blood littering his lips as he'd bit his cheek getting punched. What baffled him like nothing else, though, was the missing anger within him. Scowling, he looked to the berserker, but found he couldn't compel himself to hit back.
Superman rubbed his chin, chewing air and grimacing at the pain. After a moment of awkward silence, Mason looked at Luca again, still with a scowl. "If it makes you feel better, I might be needing stitches in my cheek. I won't let you hit me again, however." To be honest, Mason surprised even himself with the resigned anger he heard in his voice.
Captain America scoffed as Mason refused to hit back. He was worthless. "You don't deserve her." He spat at Mason. "You can't even fight for her." He shook his head, feeling more shame for himself rather than feeling it toward Mason. He had proven everything he wasn't anything different than what Ava had expected. He hadn't proven anything to her, hadn't changed anything between them. He had only made her hate him even more and that was the worst dagger of all. He looked at the blood on Mason's mouth and his lip curled in disgust and hatred for himself. He had stooped so low to hurt someone else in anger.
Wonder Woman lifted her hand and let it come down as it smacked across Luca's face. "Don't you ever. Ever. Say he doesn't deserve me." She clenched her teeth, trying to hold back her anger as the skies outside stormed and her eyes flashed silver. "He is more man than you will ever be." She breathed in deep, trying to control her anger. "I want you to leave here. You don't belong in my home anymore. You're not welcome here." She turned to Mason, taking in the bloody lip and the bruising that was starting to show. "C'mon, let's go get you patched up."
Superman shrugged slightly. "I have no problem having her fight for me. I'm not very conservative." Obviously meant to be a witty little angry retort, Mason found he found good enough truth in that. He could punch a guy, sure, but with her Valkyrie strength, he bet Ava could punch a guy harder. The slap caught him off guard, however, and his scowl softened somewhat, glancing at his girlfriend with a hint of worry. Walking slowly with her, he shook his head somewhat. "I'm fine, really. A little blood's never gotten to me before, it won't get to me now," he said with calm, holding up his hand in a resigned manner. Gazing at Ava for a moment, he gripped both of her hands in his. "I'm so sorry. For this. That it always turns out like this. Are you okay?"
Wonder Woman let out the breath she had been holding, her body letting go all the adrenaline she had conjured in her anger. She shook her head, "No. I'm sorry that he ruined our night." She let out a huff, "I finally got you for the weekend and some idiot had to mess it up."
Superman met Ava's gaze, a warm smile playing across his lips. "It's not too late," he said. "We've still got time. Nothing happened that wasn't in some ways predictable." Mason's hand found her cheek, thumb caressing softly back and forth under her eye. "We can get out of here. If you want. My apartment should be empty."
Leaving for work, as he passed through the hallway, Mason had to stop. The merest glance at the drawer, and more specifically a bundle of unwritten post-it notes, gave him an impulsive idea.
Flitting through the rest of the post-it bundle and smirking to himself, Mason couldn't help but be struck by a sudden idea that suggested this was the start to a series of a kind...
Ava looked around the hallways before looking at the post it note that Mason had left her. She but her lip and tried to contain the surge of happiness she felt inside. Her boyfriend (yes, boyfriend) had left her a simple small note and Ava couldn't help but feel the same way that she did when she had professed her love to him. It was the small little moments that made her heart absolutely melt; it was as if she fell in love all over again every single day. She took the note off it's pad and pocketed it. She's find a special place for them later but for now she'd spend her day, happy knowing that his words would make her day better.
