Agnes Montague | The Cult of the Lightless Flame | The Desolation
“When I was a child, I heard voices Some would sing and some would scream You soon find you have few choices I learned the voices died with me
When I was a child, I'd sit for hours Staring into open flame Something in it had a power Could barely tear my eyes away”
Hozier | Arsonists Lullaby
Description: [ A pale girl sits staring off of frame, her pale green eyes distant as faint, almost unseeable, tears role down her soft face. Her long auburn hair is decorated with a gold headband and her hair flows down normally before appearing to melt like wax the closer it gets to the ground. She is wearing a pale yellow dress with white trims on the collar and sleeves, her dress also flows down and appears to melt like wax. Giving her a candle appearance. Her hands are resting across her lap but off to her left side holding a ball of flames. The background is a maroon color and is a light shade around her making her seem to be glowing. Beneath in a cursive golden script is the words “Agnes Montague. The Cult of the LIghtless Flame”. The painting has a golden lined frame.]
Artist note: I really love Agnes. There is a tragedy about her that hits me hard. I took inspiration from classical paintings and listened to Arsonists Lullaby while painting this. And I think it turned out really well. I hope you all like it as well.
