Hey quick question, do we know if the Fire Lord’s wife is called the Fire Lady? Did the fandom just make that up? Zuko’s daughter’s title is still Fire Lord, that’s definitely the ruler’s title regardless of gender, so is the partner always the Fire Lady? Even if they’re male? Using Lady to designate that they’re not the ruler feels sexist (although having a male Fire Lady also makes me happy), but having two Fire Lords seems too confusing.
I guess it’s possible Izumi would have been called Fire Lady but she chose Fire Lord instead. It just feels like that’s not the case because male is the default in English so a female Fire Lord still sounds right even though Lord is a male title.
EDIT: oop forgot Azula was firelord too because it lasted like two seconds. Anyway that absolutely shows that’s just what the ruler is called.
