It was something he had forcefully expelled from memory, this sensation of falling. Too intense and disorientating was the feeling for Loki to even wonder how the rift that swallowed him had opened at all, though surely it could be through no doing of his own.
The landing was rough; it took some moments for the surroundings to shift into clear focus. There was something unsettlingly familiar about the exact manner in which stars and constellations smattered throughout this region of the cosmos--yet worse was the glimpse Loki caught of some creature skittering in the shadows.
Without pause for thought he launched into the gloom a slim bolt of flame, just accurately enough to strike the creature dead.
