Aveed Update
I had the first injection for Aveed (testosterone undecanoate, the US equivalent of Nebido) about a month ago. Due to having to pay 400 USD after insurance, I decided to go back to weekly testosterone cypionate injections. After almost 2 years, I’m also tired of Testopel due to scarring, it being a pain in the butt (literally), and its cost.
Some notes on Aveed:
It takes about 1 minute, 10 seconds to do the injection, but I didn’t experience more pain than the typical injection
The primary additional risk with Aveed is pulmonary oil microembolism since it is such a large injection
Since Aveed is suspended in castor oil, there is also a concern of allergic reaction
Given the risk of POME and allergic reaction, physicians require you to wait at the clinic for 30 minutes after the injection before leaving
Here is a link to the patient guide I received at my appointment.
So I went to La Clinica in Medford and asked them about Aveed and they said they did it. They also said that on OHP, though, my provider would be the one closest to where I live, which would be the La Clinica in Phoenix. So I went to the La Clinica in Phoenix and they said they didn’t do Aveed, and referred me to some guy in San Francisco?
????????????
Probly gonna go to La Clinica today before work and ask about HRT/Aveed... Pretty nervous...
Aveed
In recent news, I recently got preauthorization to start Aveed. Since I just had a testopel implant procedure, I'm not due for it until April, but I'm still excited. I'll keep you updated.
I would really appreciate if the FDA finally approved Aveed/Testosterone Undecanoate this year. I mean come on.
I guess we'll find out February 28th.
FDA Accepts Endo's Aveed Application
Endo Health Solutions said that regulators accepted for review new data for its long-acting testosterone injection Aveed and will make a ruling on the drug by Feb. 28. The Food and Drug Administration asked Endo for more information in May.
