Durin asked you what you'd like for your birthday. He had heard that it's common for humans to exchange a token of appreciation when they know each other very well. So that must mean he should do the same for you, too!
You, however, told him that his presence alone was a gift in itself.
Saw your post about emotional midnight hours and Durin, and honestly SAME. Some days I look at him and I just wanna chew on him due to cuteness aggression
Throws my humble offering at you
You put your hands in a Kamera like motion when you aim at him, spotting the way his tail twitches vaguely in your general direction, the action just weak enough for you to safely conclude that it is just a coincidence. You grin.
Target spotted.
Still, just to be extra cautious, you change your attacking position, silently sneaking to the other side of the room while trying to form a plan on how you want to go about this exactly.
Target locked.
You lunge, arms wrapping tightly around his waist from the back, trapping his wings against him so he can't retaliate as you find his cheek and bite.
Target secured: Mission Accomplished.
Durin giggles, tail automatically wrapping around the closest limb he can find —in this case your calve— as he tries to turn around. "What is going on?"
"You were being so cute standing there, I couldn't help myself but want to eat you whole." You nuzzle closer into his cheek, throwing more of your weight against him as a subtle purring like noise starts vibrating through his entire body.
However, this doesn't last for long, your moment of weakness costing you more than you could imagine, and ending with you up laying on your back, with the same dragon that you trapped earlier towering over your form and harassing your cheeks with excitable puppy-like dragon licks
"Not if I do it first!"
You giggle, hands trying to push him away lightly as you yell. "I surrounder— I-hehehueh— STOP I can't breath."
He squishes his cheek against yours, nuzzling back at you with the same force you used earlier as he repeats your words. "But I can't help myself but want to eat you whole."
This little shit, you swear, you will get back at him one day.
Mission Failed Successfully: Would you like to try again?
i saw an ask where durin’s a dragon at heart, and that honestly made me think of something.
when him and his lover make love to one another, it isn’t even that. he mates.
with his instincts and things, i feel like he wants to make every single moment of it count. so therefore, the love is *always* passionate in some way.
durin is but starstruck to any part of his lover’s body, and he wonders if it makes his partner feel good.
and not to mention, when it comes to romance, durin does NOT half ass anything. for him, it’s either he shows him/her love, or doesn’t do it at all. “halfway” doesn’t exist in his head.
(uhhh yeah! :D)
Omg yes YES you get it anon! Also sorry for taking too long in answering this I really just wanted to make a lil drabble for this but never got the inspiration needed for it<3
Durin is a very passionate lover, whether it is the innocent affections he is allowed in the open or the quiet intimacy of a dimly lit bedroom; he is always putting his all in treating you with the utmost care.
When it comes to lovemaking —or mating, as he likes to call it— the dragon is always a bit too eager, a little too observant, and a tad too shameless for your own sanity.
But how can he not? He adores every inch of your body the same way you do his, and he doesn't shy from showing you just how much he loves you.
His kind eyes always so fascinated with your entire existence no matter how many times you have already done this before. His lips, soft and supple hiding teeth that are sharper than a warrior's weapon, yet still sweet gentle, asking for permission before proceeding with anything that is of important matter.
It makes you feel a little embarrassed at times; the way he looks at you like you are the sun and moon and the million stars whom the false sky is hung upon. The way his hands glide over your body like it is more than a clump of rotting flesh and bone meant to turn to dust under a namless stone.
Durin's passionate nature shows even before you two were a thing even; going all the way as to ask Lisa about how human courting functions, and suppressing his instinct to hunt and scent and bring back petty shinies for you in favor of doing what is considered "normal" for most human beings.
(Or temporarily at least, a dragon can only suppress his instincts for so long before accidentally slipping. But luckily, you were positively enamored with his less human aspects and Durin couldn't have been happier.)
"Halfway" does not exist for him; so when he is doing something, you just know that he is determined.
☆Clingy! Durin, who repeatedly makes you late to wherever you need to be. "Just 5 more minutes!"..... 2 hours later. "Just one more kiss!" Half a tube of lipgloss later..... "Just have a little snack before you go!" A whole 5 course meal later.... You'd always end up canceling sooner or later, but it was worth it seeing the triumphant grin on his face.
☆Clingy! Durin, who loves giving you a chomp every once in a while. He'll sink his little teeth in whatever bare flesh of yours he can find (softly of course, can't risk hurting his darling). He hasn't quite figured out how hickeys work yet, so teeth indents will do for now.
☆Clingy! Durin, who lies on you everywhere. Lying in bed? He's sprawled on top of you. Sitting on the sofa? His head is in your lap. Picnic in the park? He's leaning against your shoulder. Sitting on the floor cleaning? He's slumped against your back.
☆Clingy! Durin, who generally clings to you like a koala. Small spoon, big spoon, butterknife, if there's a position he can be close to you in, he's tried it. Though he seems to be a big fan of flopping on top of you like a pancake, and squashing you. But you'll never complain about your difficulty breathing, who needs fresh air when you can just breathe in the smell of wet dog straight from the boy on top of you.
☆Clingy! Durin, who needs you to smell like him at all hours of the day, constantly hugging you so his scent stays put in your clothes. He'll rub himself all over your blankets and pillows, nuzzle your hair, etc. And if the wind outside threatens his scenting, then you best believe he won't let you leave the house.
☆Clingy! Durin, who couldn't possibly let you shower or bathe alone, he'll be right there with you. He'll help you wash and brush your hair, massage the soap into your back, help you rinse off in every little corner. Then he'll dry you off, put up your hair, and help you with your skincare. He just looooooves taking care of his darling <3
Durin is so hard to write with a teasing reader because his ass is freaking shameless. He will not hide anything unless he himself is not aware of it and if you somehow catch him off guard once he is never falling for the same trick again. He is immune now. Good luck trying to tease this fucker he will just respond with genuine love and affection and drown you in so much of it you are the one getting unintentionally flustered to death by his eager puppy behavior

[Name] couldn't remember how she had ended up here.
One moment, she had been standing quietly beside the pond, the next, she found herself lying upon its glasslike surface.
Green embraced her with such overwhelming abundance that it ceased to exist as a mere color and instead became something living. It didn't simply occupy the landscape before her. It enveloped her entirely, breathing through every leaf, every blade of grass, and every ancient branch that reached toward the heavens with patient reverence.
Countless shades flowed seamlessly together, emerald yielding to jade, softening into moss before fading into verdant gold beneath the sun. The forest appeared as though the earth itself had gathered every fragment of life and woven it into one sacred tapestry.
Every direction offered another masterpiece stitched together by unseen hands, until she felt astonishingly small within a world so immeasurably vast, yet so effortlessly welcoming.
Above, the canopy stretched like the vaulted ceiling of an ancient cathedral, its intertwining branches forming an intricate mosaic between earth and sky. Sunlight filtered through the leaves in luminous ribbons, cascading gently across the woodland until every surface glowed with quiet radiance.
Wherever the light settled, ordinary foliage transformed into shimmering fragments of gilded glass, their brilliance shifting with every gentle movement of the breeze.
The branches swayed with unhurried grace, resembling the slow turning of pages within a story that had existed long before humanity first learned to write. Even the drifting shadows softened every contour they touched, leaving the entire forest suspended somewhere between reality and an impossibly vivid painting.
The cool air rested lightly against her skin, carrying the rich fragrance of rain-soaked earth, weathered bark, fresh moss, and wildflowers hidden beneath blankets of emerald undergrowth.
Ferns unfurled across the forest floor with the elegance of delicate lace, while ivy embraced towering trunks in graceful ribbons of green. Ancient roots emerged from the soil like weathered veins sustaining the woodland itself before disappearing beneath carpets of moss so soft they resembled velvet.
Then her gaze wandered farther still.
Pink eyes greeted her.
They existed in breathtaking defiance of the world surrounding them. Amidst the endless tapestry of emerald foliage and sunlight spun from liquid gold, they bloomed with impossible brilliance, resembling two petals kissed by the first light of dawn rather than something that belonged to any mortal soul.
Their color possessed a curious warmth, neither harsh nor overwhelming, but luminous enough to draw her gaze as effortlessly as the moon commanded the tides.
Yet it wasn't their beauty that rooted her in place.
It was the remarkable gentleness they carried.
Wonder rested openly within those eyes with a sincerity so unguarded it felt almost sacred. They regarded the world not with suspicion nor quiet calculation, but with the endless curiosity of someone who still believed there was beauty left to discover in every unfamiliar corner of existence.
There was nothing hidden behind that gaze.
Every fleeting emotion revealed itself with remarkable honesty, blooming across his expression as naturally as flowers welcomed spring.
Surprise lingered there first, followed by quiet concern, then unmistakable confusion, each one unfolding so openly that she found herself unable to look away.
Then, all at once, realization settled over her.
The warmth spreading across her face no longer belonged solely to the sun filtering through the canopy overhead.
He was impossibly close.
Close enough that the distance between them seemed to dissolve entirely, leaving little more than a single shared breath suspended in the space that remained.
Her gaze, almost instinctively, drifted upward.
Fine strands of lavender hair framed his face in effortless disarray, darkened by water until they gleamed beneath the sunlight like silk threaded with amethyst.
Tiny droplets clung stubbornly to the loose strands, each one catching the light with crystalline clarity before gravity patiently coaxed them downward. They gathered delicately at the tips before surrendering one by one, descending in slow, glistening arcs that seemed almost reluctant to leave him.
One landed against her cheek.
Then another.
Their touch was startlingly cool against the lingering warmth of her skin, featherlight enough to resemble the delicate brush of flower petals carried by an unseen breeze.
They traced quiet paths along her face before disappearing beneath the damp fabric clinging to her collar, leaving behind nothing more than a pleasant chill that lingered for a fleeting moment.
Only then did she become aware of the faint heaviness of her own clothes, the cool weight of water pressing gently against her skin, and the undeniable closeness between them.
For a suspended instant, the forest, the pond, and the endless sea of green beyond him seemed to recede into nothingness, until the entire world had quietly narrowed to the pair of luminous eyes looking back at her.
She found herself half-reclined within the pond, her palms pressed firmly against the smooth stones hidden beneath the crystalline water as they bore the weight of her body, the only barrier preventing her from slipping completely beneath the tranquil surface.
Cool water embraced her from the waist downward, saturating every layer of fabric until it clung heavily against her skin, tracing the shape of every fold and movement with inescapable precision. Around them, the pond surrendered its perfect stillness, delicate ripples unfolding in widening circles that drifted gracefully toward clusters of lily pads resting upon the mirrored surface.
Fragments of sunlight scattered across the water like shattered pieces of a gilded mirror, each ripple stretching those reflections into flowing ribbons of liquid gold before allowing them to gather themselves once again into flawless clarity.
It felt as though she had fallen into a painting too delicate for mortal hands, every movement threatening to disturb a masterpiece centuries in the making.
Above her remained the source of her bewilderment.
One knee rested within the shallow water beside her while the other remained firmly planted against the pond's edge, his posture frozen somewhere between hurried concern and complete disbelief.
Water streamed from the dark fabric clinging to his sleeves, gathering at his fingertips before slipping back into the pond in crystalline droplets that briefly disturbed its glasslike surface.
His lavender hair had surrendered entirely to the water, neat strands now darkened with moisture as they framed his face in soft disarray, their damp ends brushing lightly against his cheeks and neck.
Tiny beads of water lingered amongst the silken strands like scattered pearls caught within woven amethyst, glimmering whenever the sunlight reached them before quietly descending along gentle paths toward the pond below.
Even the warmth filtering through the canopy above seemed unable to diminish the coolness radiating from the water that surrounded them, leaving a pleasant chill resting against her skin while the sunlight brushed across her face with quiet tenderness.
Neither of them moved.
Time itself appeared to hesitate, suspended within the narrow space separating them.
The world beyond his figure dissolved into little more than soft washes of emerald and gold, every towering tree and drifting lily fading into indistinct strokes upon an artist's canvas.
There remained only the remarkable closeness between them, close enough that every droplet upon his hair caught her attention, close enough that she could see bewilderment bloom openly across those brilliant pink eyes.
Then they widened.
"Oh no."
The words blossomed silently upon his lips.
In a single fleeting instant, the fragile enchantment suspended between them unraveled, dissolving as effortlessly as frost beneath the warmth of dawn. Every trace of quiet wonder vanished from his expression, replaced by unmistakable panic that spread across his face with startling honesty.
His brilliant pink eyes widened until they seemed almost luminous beneath the light, every emotion laid bare without the slightest attempt at concealment.
Confusion gave way to horror, horror to overwhelming guilt, each feeling unfolding so openly that she scarcely needed to understand his words to grasp them. His lips immediately began moving again, forming hurried apologies one after another with such frantic urgency that they nearly stumbled over themselves.
"I-I'm so sorry!"
His hands lifted instinctively as though he wished he could gather the entire accident back into his palms and undo it. Water streamed from the dark fabric clinging to his sleeves, scattering into glittering droplets each time he gestured helplessly. A vivid crimson rapidly bloomed across his cheeks, spreading to the tips of his ears until embarrassment itself seemed to have painted him by hand.
"I didn't mean to push you— I was trying to catch you! Are you hurt anywhere? Did you hit your head? I..."
The words never reached their end.
His lips stopped moving altogether. His gaze drifted beyond her shoulder, and whatever panic had filled his eyes only moments before deepened into something far more devastating.
Instinctively, she turned.
Her belongings floated across the pond like fragments of a life quietly coming undone.
The wicker basket drifted helplessly amongst the lilies, tipped onto its side as water gradually claimed its woven frame. Crimson apples escaped one by one, gliding across the mirrored surface like scattered remnants of a fading sunset. But it was the notebook that made her chest tighten.
Half-submerged beneath the crystal-clear water, its thick leather cover had already darkened with moisture while page after page greedily absorbed the pond, swelling beneath its weight.
Beside it, her fountain pen drifted in slow circles, releasing delicate ribbons of plum-colored ink that unfurled through the pristine water like bruises blooming beneath porcelain.
They curled gracefully between the lilies before dissolving into nothingness, carrying every carefully written thought away with them until all that remained was silence preserved upon blank, waterlogged pages.
The young man remained frozen for only a heartbeat, his gaze fixed upon the scattered remnants drifting across the pond. Whatever awareness he had possessed of their earlier closeness dissolved completely, swept away by the crushing realization of the havoc his thoughtless stumble had caused.
The warmth lingering where their bodies had nearly touched, the water that had gathered around them like liquid glass, even the crimson embarrassment that had painted his face moments before, all of it vanished beneath an avalanche of guilt.
"Oh, Archons... your stuff!"
His lips barely finished shaping the words before he lurched backward in a frantic attempt to free her from beneath him. The hurried movement proved disastrous.
His heel caught against a moss-slick root concealed beneath the clear water, and his balance abandoned him entirely.
His arms flew outward in a hopeless attempt to steady himself, only for his body to collapse unceremoniously into the shallows. Water burst upward in glittering arcs around him, soaking what little of his clothing had escaped the pond's embrace, while the startled expression stretched across his face somehow made the spectacle even more pitiful.
Yet embarrassment never had the opportunity to settle. Almost before the ripples had smoothed themselves away, he was already scrambling upright once more, his rain-heavy clothes clinging awkwardly to every movement as he splashed hurriedly through the lilies.
The sudden distance allowed her to gather herself at an altogether gentler pace.
Pressing her palms against the smooth stones beneath the water, still pleasantly warmed by the lingering afternoon sunlight, she eased herself upright until she settled comfortably with her legs folded beneath the pond's cool embrace.
Water cradled the lower half of her body while sunlight rested upon her damp shoulders like a silken shawl, its warmth soft against skin still chilled from the fall. She simply watched him, serene and unhurried, her quiet world untouched by the frantic scene unfolding before her.
He lunged after a floating apple, only for the slick fruit to slip neatly from between his fingers and bob away once more. His shoulders visibly slumped before he hastily reached after it again, this time trapping it securely against his chest with the triumphant relief of someone rescuing a priceless treasure rather than a single piece of fruit.
"Got one— ah... wait, no!"
His lips scarcely finished forming the triumphant declaration before his attention darted toward another apple drifting lazily beyond his reach. He twisted so abruptly that his balance faltered once again, his boots skidding across the algae-slick stones hidden beneath the clear water.
For one precarious moment he pitched sideways, arms windmilling in an earnest, almost comical attempt to steady himself. Damp strands of lavender hair clung to his flushed face before fanning wildly with every frantic movement, and there was something almost painfully endearing in the spectacle before her.
He moved with the wholehearted determination of someone whose intentions consistently outran his coordination, every hurried gesture guided by sincerity rather than grace. After an embarrassingly determined struggle, he finally managed to trap three wandering apples securely against his ribs before turning his attention toward the half-sunken basket.
"Almost... there!"
He seized its handle without hesitation, only to lift far too quickly. Water imprisoned within the woven frame surged free in a heavy cascade, its unexpected weight dragging both basket and boy forward until he collapsed onto his knees in an explosion of shimmering water.
His mouth moved again in what she could only assume were fervent reproaches directed entirely at himself before he hurriedly recovered, cheeks burning an even deeper crimson as he tucked the rescued apples safely inside.
Then his eyes found the notebook.
"The book... I have to get the book before the ink ruins everything!"
Panic returned in full force. He hurried toward it, but the pond refused to show mercy. His foot slipped, sending him sprawling sideways into the water once more, ripples unfurling across the pond like rings upon polished glass.
When he resurfaced, only his damp head remained visible for a fleeting moment, his expression carrying the unmistakable defeat of someone convinced the world itself had declared war upon his balance.
Even so, he refused to surrender. Rising immediately, he carefully slipped both hands beneath the waterlogged notebook as though lifting something infinitely precious, raising it above the pond with almost reverential care.
His fingers quickly rescued the drifting fountain pen as well, preventing another delicate ribbon of violet ink from escaping into the crystalline water. Standing knee-deep amongst the lilies, soaked from head to toe, he gathered the basket, notebook, and pen tightly against his chest with quiet relief.
Beneath the afternoon sun, droplets clinging to his lavender hair caught the golden light like scattered gemstones, while the frantic urgency slowly melted from his posture, leaving behind nothing but a thoroughly drenched, hopelessly flustered young man.
Rather than climbing onto the bank, he remained in the pond. With careful, almost hesitant movements, he waded through the clear, waist-deep water until only a short distance separated them before lowering himself into a cross-legged seat opposite her.
Gentle ripples unfurled from the movement, gliding lazily across the pond and nudging the lily pads into slow, aimless circles. The sun settled warmly upon his damp shoulders, while countless droplets clinging to the lavender strands of his hair shimmered like tiny crystals caught between earth and sky.
Cradled securely against his lap rested the small collection he had managed to rescue, held with such remarkable care that they resembled offerings too precious to risk even the slightest mishandling.
With painstaking deliberation, his trembling hands began returning them to their rightful owner.
First came the wicker basket, still dripping steadily from its rain-soaked weave, the rescued apples nestled untidily within its damp interior.
Next, he carefully extended the leather notebook, its once-pristine pages swollen beyond recognition, the edges darkened where water had seeped mercilessly into every carefully preserved thought.
Lastly, he presented the fountain pen between both hands, its silver nib still faintly stained with the final traces of plum-colored ink.
"I'm... I'm so sorry." His lips shaped the apology slowly this time, as though each word carried a weight he struggled to bear. His shoulders curled inward, his expression folding into quiet remorse. "I tried to reach the notebook as quickly as I could... Then I saw the ink spreading through the water, and I panicked..."
The sentence withered before it reached its end.
His gaze drifted downward.
Instinctively, hers followed.
Between them rested the unfortunate remains of her belongings. The notebook had become a dense, waterlogged block, its pages fused together beneath their own weight like flower petals pressed beneath relentless rain.
The fountain pen lay emptied of its ink, while the rescued apples glistened inside the basket, partially submerged in the shallow pool gathered along its base. The sight was almost absurd in its misfortune, tragic enough to invite sympathy and yet somehow so earnest that it bordered upon the comical.
A fresh blush climbed across the bridge of his nose.
Then his attention snapped back to her.
Concern immediately eclipsed every trace of embarrassment.
He leaned forward, pink eyes searching every inch of her face with almost desperate scrutiny as his lips began moving once more.
"Are you hurt anywhere? Did you hit the rocks when you fell? Please tell me you aren't injured... It was my fault. I wasn't paying attention—I should've been more careful."
The questions spilled from him faster and faster until they blurred together.
She tried to follow.
Her brows gradually knitted together as her eyes remained fixed upon his mouth, determined to decipher each hurried movement before the next one arrived. But his lips moved too quickly, every carefully shaped word dissolving into another before she could fully understand it.
The rhythm escaped her.
The meaning slipped through her grasp like water passing between open fingers.
No matter how intently she watched, she found herself standing once again before the familiar, invisible wall that had separated her from spoken conversations for as long as she could remember, close enough to witness every emotion written plainly across his face, yet impossibly distant from the words that carried them.
The moment he noticed the tension settling across her features, he stopped.
The stream of hurried words vanished from his lips as uncertainty quietly replaced the frantic urgency that had driven him only moments before.
His brows drew together ever so slightly, and he searched her face with careful hesitation, as though afraid that another misplaced word might deepen whatever discomfort he had already caused.
His shoulders gradually relaxed from around his ears, and when he spoke again, every movement of his mouth became slower, each syllable deliberately shaped with patient precision.
"Are you... okay?"
This time, she understood him.
Her gaze drifted from his face to the damp basket resting quietly upon her lap. Water continued to gather within its woven base, cradling the rescued apples beneath a thin, shimmering layer that caught the afternoon sunlight.
Beside it lay her notebook, its swollen pages permanently transformed into a heavy block of warped parchment, while the fountain pen rested motionless, emptied of the violet ink that had once filled its reservoir.
The quiet afternoon she had so carefully prepared, the pages waiting to be filled, the hours she intended to spend beneath the trees, had dissolved before her eyes as effortlessly as watercolor beneath rain.
Yet when she lifted her gaze once more, it met a pair of impossibly earnest pink eyes.
There was no malice within them.
Only remorse and concern.
Only the unmistakable expression of someone desperately wishing reality could be unwound with nothing more than an apology.
A warmth, gentle and unexpected, settled within her chest.
Raising both hands into the space between them, she began to move.
Two fingers touched lightly beneath her chin before extending outward toward him. One hand rested against her chest, while the other swept forward in a fluid motion, her fingers shifting through practiced shapes with effortless precision.
Her hands flowed together with the natural rhythm of a language long woven into her life, graceful as water tracing the curves of a familiar riverbed.
His attention followed every motion.
Then...
His expression emptied completely.
His head tipped ever so slightly to one side, lavender strands slipping across his forehead as bewilderment slowly overtook every feature.
His eyes remained fixed upon her hands, studying them with unwavering concentration, yet there was not the slightest flicker of recognition within them. It was the look of someone staring at unfamiliar constellations, aware that they formed a pattern, yet possessing no map with which to read them.
"What... are you doing?"
She caught the question immediately.
For a brief moment, her hands lingered in the air before settling once more upon the damp rim of the basket. Perhaps she had been too quick. Perhaps he believed she was merely gesturing without purpose. After a moment's consideration, she tried again.
This time, she simplified everything.
She pointed gently toward his chest.
Then she opened both hands, palms facing upward between them, tilting her head ever so slightly in silent inquiry.
Again, his eyes moved from her hands to her face, then back again, searching for some hidden explanation that stubbornly refused to reveal itself. His forehead creased deeper with every passing heartbeat until, almost sheepishly, he lifted a damp hand to rub the back of his neck.
"I... I don't get it." His lips formed each word with unmistakable clarity before a small, apologetic shake of his head followed. "What are you trying to do?"
She remained still.
He remained equally motionless.
Between them stretched not distance, but something far more elusive, a bridge neither of them yet knew how to build. They could see one another perfectly, every emotion reflected openly across each other's expressions, yet meaning remained stranded somewhere beyond reach, like sunlight dancing upon the pond's surface while its warmth never touched the depths below.
He studied her for another lingering moment, curiosity gradually overtaking confusion.
Then, with complete sincerity, his lips curved into a small, thoughtful frown before shaping a single, honest observation.
"You're... weird."
He spoke without cruelty.
There had been no mockery hidden within the gentle curve of his lips, no ridicule lingering behind the innocent expression upon his face. To him, it was nothing more than a simple observation, offered with the same unfiltered honesty that had colored everything else he had done since crashing into her.
He knew nothing of deafness, nothing of hands that spoke in place of voices, nothing of conversations carried through shaped fingers and practiced movements. All he saw was someone communicating in a way utterly unfamiliar to him.
You're weird.
She read the words with perfect clarity.
The warmth that had only moments ago settled quietly within her chest unraveled all at once.
It was not anger that reached her first, but disappointment—a familiar ache that spread through her like frost creeping across untouched glass.
How many times had she watched those same shapes form upon different lips? How many puzzled glances, awkward smiles, hesitant laughter, and careless remarks had followed the moment her hands began to speak instead of her mouth?
She had long since learned that ignorance and malice were not the same, yet neither made the sting any easier to bear.
The softness left her expression.
Her brows relaxed into an unnervingly level line, her lips pressing together until every trace of warmth vanished from her face. Her dark eyes rose to meet his once more, steady and unreadable, their calmness far colder than anger could ever hope to be. It was as though a winter sky had settled behind them, clear and motionless, offering no glimpse of what lay beneath.
His own expression faltered almost immediately.
"Huh?" His lips parted in visible confusion before concern swept rapidly across his features. He leaned toward her, hands lifting instinctively. "Wait... is something wrong? Did I say something—"
He never finished.
In one swift movement, she rose.
Water cascaded from her skirts as she drew herself to her full height, and before he could even begin to understand what was happening, the soaked wicker basket left her hand in a clean, decisive arc.
The basket struck him squarely in the forehead with a firm, unmistakable impact, scattering tiny droplets of water between them.
Though light enough to cause little real pain, the sheer surprise of it sent him reeling backward, his balance abandoning him with practiced betrayal. His eyes widened in utter disbelief as he stumbled, arms flinging instinctively to steady himself before he toppled unceremoniously into the shallows, water erupting around him as he landed.
By the time he hurriedly pushed the damp strands of lavender hair away from his face and looked up—
She was already leaving.
Without a single glance over her shoulder, she climbed the grassy bank with unwavering purpose.
Water streamed steadily from the hem of her dress, leaving a winding trail that shimmered briefly beneath the afternoon sun before disappearing into the thirsty earth. Her spine remained perfectly straight, every measured step carrying the quiet finality of a door closing.
Ferns parted before her and slowly settled back into place after she passed, swallowing her retreating figure until the emerald woodland embraced her completely, leaving behind only a bewildered young man standing knee-deep in the pond, clutching nothing but confusion and regret.
"Wait! Hey—please, wait!"
The moment she disappeared beyond the bank, he lurched after her without a second thought. Water streamed relentlessly from his clothes as he clambered out of the pond, nearly losing his footing yet again on the rain-darkened earth before hastily catching himself.
One hand remained stretched toward her retreating figure as though he could somehow bridge the growing distance between them through sheer desperation alone, his expression crumpling beneath a confusion so genuine it was almost painful to witness.
"Where are you going? I'm sorry!"
"Whatever I did... I'm sorry!"
"Please don't leave!"
She never turned.
Her pace neither quickened nor slowed. The damp hem of her dress brushed against emerald ferns as shafts of golden afternoon light slipped through the ancient canopy, scattering across her path in fractured ribbons.
Without once looking over her shoulder, she continued deeper into the forest, her silhouette gradually dissolving amongst towering trunks and flourishing greenery until even the last glimpse of her vanished beyond the leaves.
He remained where the forest met the pond, motionless.
Water dripped steadily from lavender strands that clung untidily across his flushed face. At his feet rested a lone crimson apple that had escaped the basket once more, and after a moment's hesitation, he bent to pick it up almost absentmindedly, cradling it against his palm.
His pink eyes lingered upon the empty path long after she had disappeared, searching for an answer that refused to reveal itself, while bewilderment settled quietly across his face like a child standing before a closed door, unable to understand why it had been shut.
How genshin guys would react to you waking them up in the middle of the night asking for a kiss.
Assuming you’re married and live together. Fem reader.
Annoyed but deals with it
He’ll ask you to repeat your question in an tired, irritated tone. You don’t think he will and expect a scolding but instead he leans over giving you a quick peck. In his mind he’d rather just kiss you to get this over with. He’s too tired to question it. “Happy now? Now go back to sleep. It’s 2am.” In the morning he might ask you about it if he remembers but doesn’t put much importance on it.
Alhaitham, Baizhu, Kinich, Tighnari, Scaramouche,
Happily does so
He’ll let out a quiet chuckle before sitting up. Plants you a big kiss on the lips with an exaggerated “MWAH.” Will ask you if you want more since you’ve woken him up. Even if you say no he’ll shake his head and reply “I think you need a few more since you’re so desperate for kisses at this hour.” You’ll spend the next 30 minutes kissing him before he’ll lay back down and settle the blanket over him as if nothing happened.
Similar to the last one except he’s a lot more tired when he gives the first kiss. He doesn’t mind having to wake up for this. If you say that’s enough after he asks you if you need any more he will quickly go back to sleep. If you wake him again a few minutes later he won’t get mad. He will only start to get a little annoyed if you wake him up like 5 times, days in a row.
Will asks you to repeat what you said like 10 times. He genuinely can’t comprehend what you’re saying. He would kiss you if he knew but his mind is making it seem like you’re speaking a different language. “What?”,“Huh”, “What’s happening?” Eventually you give up because you realize you aren’t getting through to him.

You know you can talk to me if something is wrong?” “Would you prefer I kiss you more before you sleep so you aren’t craving it at midnight?” For some reason this ends in you reassuring him before he can go back to sleep.

He’ll tell you to wait until morning, not even bothering to open his eyes. If you do get him to open his eyes he’s unnecessarily irritated. Did you not understand that he said no? Might kiss you just to shut you up but it’s not affectionate enough to satisfy your cravings.

Flat Out Refuses
Similar to the last one except no means no with him. He’s suprisingly calm. He won’t open his eyes and will literally just tune you out. Might snuggle closer to you at best. It doesn’t matter how loud you’re complaining he’s back asleep in a few minutes. Will be sure to kiss you in the morning to make up for it, even if you’re a little angry.
