No I will not sit back and relax because I don't agree with what you're planning on doing. I don't agree with it so I will fight against it in any way I can. And they won't be able to do too much that's drastic considering Obama can always veto it and there isn't a large enough majority to overrule a presidential veto.

Republicans and Democrats have to work together to get shit done so if the Republicans want to do that, then great. All power to them. And I will put my trust in the Democrats who work alongside them to make sure that the bills that will be passed won't be too conservative crazy.

So unless Republicans and Democrats decide they will work together, shit isn't going to get done.

it is my place to decide because I'm a citizen of this country. It's my place because the people in this congress choose what's going to affect my life. It is my place because it is my duty to choose the right people to put into an elected office. The problem is that not everyone has the ability to have a choice over these things.

And no one has the answers to everything. Acting like we do is foolish because everyone can bring something to the table. But I can be so forward as to be able to say that I know more about this government and this country than you do because I've been fortunate enough to get a college education.

right and trickle down has really worked so well during this century hasn't it? The recession is real great evidence for that.

The fact is that you're ignoring how many obstacles are in your way if your poor. You can't move up the ladder because you can't go to college to get the degree to move you up the ladder. You can barely pay for food and for bills because you're on minimum wage and food stamps (which you can't live off of). And because of your lovely economic policies, they're forced to pay more taxes than those of the 1%. Taxes that they can't pay.

Succeeding in this world depends on a lot more than hard work and self improvement. If you happen to be born in a low-income family and work hard to move up, but can't because of the economic pressures and inability to get a job in the current job market that we have, that's clearly you're own fault according to the republicans. Damn! If only you had been born in a white, upper class family then you could just depend on hard work and self improvement!

And as for your last statement, I didn't say republicans were the only reasons for democrats not voting. I listed many reasons why democrats aren't voting, but republican voter id laws are one of those reasons. Yes, some people choose not to vote and they tend to be democrats (and trust me that frustrates the hell out of me) but there are also people who are prevented from voting, and they tend to be democrats.

But I'm not going to change your mind, that much is clear. Why don't you go back to your studies so that you can save this country from the ugly poor people? At least then I won't be wasting my time with you.

I'm a history major with a political science minor (and a french minor just to throw in because i like gloating about that) and chelsea is also majoring in political science and psychology (correct me if i'm wrong, though, chelsea but i know for sure you're studying poly sci) and you're trying to tell us you're more educated on this? ok.

I don’t have time to fully respond to this because I’m currently working my ass off in school so that one day I can pay for lazy americans who ride the welfare and handout train, but I will say that every piece of evidence you used is from a clearly

i missed the first part of this lovely message now didn't I? Ha. I'm sorry I did because this is hilarious. You really don't know anything about this world do you? I pity you honestly. I really do. Because you're so ignorant about people's problems and how the real world works. Perhaps one day you'll learn, but I doubt it. You'll just keep demonizing people who struggle to pay their bills and pay for their food because clearly it's their fault they're in this slump. It clearly has nothing to do about the fact that our economy went into a recession and two wars over the course of 8 years and that people can't move up the ladder because you NEED a college education which they can't pay for. Let's also ignore the fact that people can't live off of minimum wage or food stamps and are forced to pay more taxes than someone with 10X their income (probably even more than that).

Which means that you didn't vote in this past election. And I hate to break it to you, but you're a minority. In 2012 90% of Republicans were white and the mass majority of millenials are liberal and democratic.

All you  have to do is google is "republican demographics" and/or "republican age demographics" and you can find more sources if the washington post is too biased for you.

And really? That's your excuse? Biased sources? All those sources I found just happened to slant in my favor? Washington Post? PBS? Here's an ABC source if you want another. I even threw in a Fox News source in there which I thought you would appreciate. And honestly, all you have to do is go to google and go to a ton more sources that said the exact same thing I did.

It's really just common sense to know that the majority of americans don't vote either by choice or not. So claiming that the majority of americans elected this congress is just plain wrong. Especially when only 36% of eligible voters voted this past election.

But hey, you can ignore the evidence all you like. Feel free to go on living in your daydream if it makes you feel any better about our government. I'm not gonna stop you.
