The Wanderlust Tour: New Blues Man's Log
So--my travels to NYC and DC began on September 3rd via Megabus...
NYC is an amazing salad bowl of creatives, and participating in the Brooklyn Wildlife Summer Festival was a milestone for me, being my first (of many to come) out-of-town festivals I was invited to jam in. To see you name on a roster of artists from myriad genres is surreal, and NYC is always seen as 'THE PLACE' to do any and everything of creative note.
My host in Brooklyn--Kenny was most gracious, and I literally couch surfed! Got to take in some sites in the Bed-Stuy area with Arin Maya, an artist I'd done some production work with on a recent project. These trips never last as long as you'd like them to, for it seems that as soon as I touched down in NYC, it was time to head to DC.
My long time friend Che Harris opened his home to me, and that was nothing short of The Universe working in my favor, because I had a show, and no place to crash! That show introduced me to some of the brilliant talent DC has, and laughter and networking ensued. Had some technical issues, so my last song was done acapella--and being from TN, there is already some immediate apprehension--but I assured them I would earn each and every applause that night.
I did indeed.
And now--we come to it--the end of the DC stay and I am feeling a bit bittersweet about leaving so soon. A week is never long enough to take in a place like this, but money speaks reality, and I'll just have to make another trip here. I take with me the wonderful exchanges and experiences from both NYC and DC--and hope that my growth will reflect the lessons learned on this journey.
Where To Next???
That, is the question, and it is up to you!!!
