“TO GUIDE YOU BETTER ON THE EPHEMERAL ROAD, CHILDREN, HEAVEN GAVE YOU A MOTHER”
by Hopare
At age 12 Paris-based Alexandre Monteiro, aka Hopare, discovered graffiti on an old factory and soon started creating his own. In junior high school, reports Avenue des Arts, he had the good fortune to study with well known French street artist Shaka, and a year later, as a young boy “still in pursuit of his own artistic identity” Hopare painted his first important mural. Influenced by a 12th grade job with an interior architecture firm, his line-based style emerged, the complex patterns of lines adding a unique dynamic to the faces common in his work. In 2017 Hopare was in Los Angeles to exhibit work at Avenue des Arts and spent 10 days painting this huge work on 8th Street. Highlighting the love of a mother for her child Street Art United States reports that the colors are reminiscent of birth, life, and love while the drippings evoke blood and sacrifice. @hopare1
