Monday Evening Check In
Its the beginning of a new week and that means it was time for my weekly weigh in. I limit myself to getting on the scale only once a week to track my weight. I occasionally will do it before and after long runs to monitor my water loss so I can re-hydrate properly. So this morning i stepped on the scale and came in at an even 196 lbs. That is good news. I dropped about 2 lbs from last week and am down 4 pounds over the last 3 weeks. Using myfitnesspal and a food scale has really helped keep me balanced and on track in my eating habits. I cannot say enough of how much calorie counting has helped. Now onto the running portion Since January 1st I have ran 53.78 miles in a total time of 7:06:08. That puts mean well on track of achieving my 1,400 miles over the year. It is still early, but its a good start now to keep it up. today's run was a great run with the Skagit Running Club. It was a flat route so it was a fast pace. I finished with an average pace of 7:17/mile over 5.75 miles. I started the run with Rachel, but her wonderful dog Willow decided to tends to natures business, so I ended up ahead of her. I ended up spending most of the run with Jason. We held pretty steady for 4 miles hovering around a 7:21/mile pace. At this point Luis Caught up to us after circling back (he is a fast runner). That was around the last mile so I sped up to run with him and averaged a 6:40/mile pace over the last .75 miles. Overall today's run was faster than I assumed and I felt good during the whole run. this is promising for me because my speed is starting to come back a little bit. I was able to average around 6:35/mile pace for a 5 to 6 mile flat run around October so I do have work ahead. I am feeling pleased and confident about the upcoming weeks of training given my early successes. I just need to keep my head up and keep moving forward. As always, if anyone has any questions about my routine or would like some advice from me I am willing to offer my knowledge.
