Upon receiving Rhys Dasior's email updating him on the investigation in Portugal, Raphael did exactly as he promised the head of magic consultants. Although his true intentions could be deciphered differently than how they likely came off as for the good of the council in their detective efforts in these times. As usual, the ghoul had more selfish ulterior motives underneath initiating the background check into Roman Thomson. What were the odds that this Roman Thomson was connected to the very same Avery Thomson that his Lucien fooled around with?
Apparently they were highly in Raph's favor. His contacts returned to him in a few days with a details report on this familiar Roman, including a marriage license with Avery for good measure. How quaint, he thought. He wondered if Lucien knew about this relationship? His fledgling had an envious streak that Raphael thought adorable. And the Italian's current conflict with the younger councilman wouldn't keep Lucien distracted enough from further digging into Aurelius' death. That just wouldn't do.
His mind concocted a plan of how he could kill two birds here with one stone and he soon found himself knocking at Avery's door. "Mr. Thomson," he greeted the young Frenchman, nose crinkling ever so slightly as he looked him over. What Lucien ever saw in these rough and tumblr bumpkin types he'd never understand, but to each their own he supposed. "I was hoping we could talk. Do you mind if I come in?"
