Being aware of the awareness
I’m making this post to remind you that you are experiencing awarness through your physical body and this current reality, and that this filter changes from reality to reality.
When I say filter, I mean your brain and your body. Each body, each brain, is like a lens that shapes how awareness flows. But the lens is interchangeable. You're not "stuck" anywhere
Most of us never take the time to simply be aware of our awareness inside this body. Yet I think this practice is one of the most powerful ways to build a healthy detachment from this current reality and this physical vessel.
That's why for many people using sense when shifting helps them shift because it allows them to use their awareness, it has everything to do with the way awareness modulates the personal experience.
Here’s an example to make it more concrete:
Try focusing all your awareness on your knee right now. Suddenly, every other sensation in your body feels more distant, less important. Your awareness shifted filters.
Shifting realities is the same thing, but on another scale. You are already there, already feeling your DR body, your awareness is simply concentrated here, on this filter. Once you grasp that, you realize that you are not locked in this reality, you’re just focused on it. Shifting isn't about something external, it's about a Shift in perception. Your own perception. And it's about focusing on that other experience that you're already living.
Neuroscience actually backs this up. Researchers talk about selective attention and the “spotlight of awareness”: the brain can only fully highlight one thing at a time. When you redirect that spotlight, other signals fade into the background. Meditation studies also show that when awareness shifts inward, activity in the default mode network (the brain area that keeps you anchored to your identity and this world) decreases, making it easier to experience yourself beyond your CR.
This study is about selective attention and can help you into putting this in perspective
* Selective attention is the ability to enhance relevant signals and manage distraction. * The neural bases and development of this ability
That’s why practices like yoga nidra, breathwork, or even body-scan meditation help so many people with shifting and the void state: they literally train your awareness to move inward, away from this filter, and reconnect to the part of you that transcends this body.
This article is talking about meditation and awareness
The “click” I want you to feel is this: you are not your body, you are the one feeling and experiencing the body. You are not your CR, you are the one perceiving it. And the perceiver can choose where to focus. Even if it's your DR.
Once you get that, detachment becomes natural. You stop overcomplicating the process. Shifting is simply changing the filter of perception.
Quick practice to feel it right now
Close your eyes and take one deep breaths
Put all your awareness on your left hand. Feel its weight, warmth, maybe tingling.
Notice how the rest of your body fades slightly into the background.
Now gently shift that awareness to your chest. Feel the rising and falling of your breath.
Realize: you are the one moving the spotlight.
That’s the same mechanism you’ll use for shifting, awareness is flexible, it’s not stuck anywhere unless you decide it is.
