hi hiiii long time no see; updating my character references for awkward phage soon but i've been making a point to figure out how the hell everyone's designs function practically first, here's a menagerie of andrew sketches feat me trying to decide how checks notes a super basic jacket works lmao

hey guys! this here's a comic properly introducing andrew and the basics of his story setup at the start of awkward phage; as i've said the comic is still very much in the pre-production stage so this project was mostly to mess around with colors and formatting styles! and in that department it was a great help, i have a wayyyy better grasp on how this project is gonna look than i did before; also you guys get a peek at the other two main guys in the story so that's exciting >3>

two of awkward phage's main characters, andrew and ebenezer!

andrew is a 21-year-old amateur engineer/paranormal investigator who runs his father's antique shop/haunted object museum; he's opinionated, standoffish, and a bit of a loner

ebenezer is an ephemeral "spirit" that inhabits an old arcade machine (he tends to dodge any queries as to what he actually is). he's been around since andrew mysteriously found his cabinet out behind the shop one day, and wants absolutely nothing to do with him. ebenezer is sarcastic, melodramatic, and definitely more human than he'd like to admit

unfortunately these two are stuck with each other for the duration, a circumstance i'll be getting into in another post; for now i'll just say there's a reason why ebenezer is missing that eye

quick aside from character stuff, this is an environment i've been developing for awkward phage! andrew's father owns an antique shop with "haunted" oddities (sort of like a less tacky warren occult museum) and andrew's been running/living in it whilst his dad's out of town

it's three stories in all and this is the first floor, aka where the actual shop is! it doesn't get a lot of customers and andrew isn't keen on looking after it lmao

also been figuring out my crabby arcade bitch; ebenezer's jumpsuit thingy is based off of one of david bowie's ziggy stardust outfits and you won't believe the deep dive i went on trying to figure out how i wanted to draw that shit lmaooo

been working on my comic project again! here's my favorite cabinet man of indeterminate supernatural origin

In a small Midwestern antique shop/paranormal museum, a young man discovers a mysterious nonfunctional arcade cabinet left out behind the shop. As he tries to fix up the cabinet, he soon discovers that it’s inhabited by a strange inhuman consciousness, seemingly imprisoned within the machine. What's more, through his Internet investigation into the origins of this cabinet and its inhabitant, it turns out he’s not the only one dealing with a restless arcade spirit…

Awkward Phage is an original project i've been developing for some time now! it's gone through many phases but currently i'm planning for it to end up as a science-fantasy webcomic set in an alternate mid-2000's midwestern america

there are six main characters in the story, all of whom are on my artfight but i haven't had a chance to properly introduce all of them yet! so i'm very excited to tell you all more about them and this project ^^ it's a big passion of mine
