Loss

I was given the news earlier that my step-grandad has cancer that has already spread quite severely. The events of today have reminded me that life is short. My step-grandad is a great man and has worked for everything. He was a farm manager for 50 years, giving up at 70 reluctantly due to his and his late wife's failing health. I am not particularly close to him, having only known him for 4 years but he has made a definite impact on my life. Loss seems like it could be an insensitive title for this post but this is the start of the grieving process. It is unlikely he will live much longer and everyone in his family needs to be prepared, me included. The only words of advice I have for anyone going through a similar situation or the family is all we love we leave behind. As hard as it is to watch someone you admire suffer, you have to stay by their side and help in any way you can and when the time comes that they aren't there anymore, just remember that saying and maybe play the song of the same name if you like that kind of music. Whatever happens, I'll help in any way I can. Listening to Converge is getting me through this time. All we love we leave behind.
