So after aggressively consuming a bunch of shorts going over different types of D&D giants, I now carry the headcannon that the Virgil from fbafb is specifically a stone giant that was just way too curious over humans for his own good and the second Remus realizes this he losses it a bit at the towns people that hired him because of how stone giants effectively just really like making cave art and sculptures and are the least of their issues to any giants. Especially in comparison to hill giants, which he assumed was the case when being hired.

I really like the take on Ampen Virgil, it feels like a really smooth take on if Virgil was an Ampen... Which isn't really a surprise since you are the one to craft these differing alien species' in the series to begin with, but I digress.

I even ended up gaining headcannons just from chapter one I enjoyed it so much. Mainly that Virgil has a head floof similar to certain breeds of chickens like polish and silkie's in contrast to Wibar Patton's coat of bright blue feathers, Roman is the equivalent to one of those people who try getting closer to a bear for a selfie so he has little to no means of recognizing if Virgil is rudely gesturing or not, and that once Remus meets Roman in this AU he will constantly be calling Roman his brother as a means of annoying Roman even though he will never get it.

I noticed a neat little detail in tkts(aaiw) about Roman, Patton, and Logan that I picked up is the main sorta "language" they each use when they interact with Virgil. Patton communicates through emotions, Logan communicates through language and speech, and Roman communicates through body movements & gestures. This feels really neat too because these traits not only reflect the cannon characters the best, but they also reflect their Wibar counterparts the best too.

isn't it nice when things just come together like that? :D
