The next robot, a mini-rover prototype in ackshun!
Super early gameplay video of PolyKnights prototype. Basically the sword people are just trying to protect the torch person. This is all super rough of course, but i figure i would share.
Thanks again jeremyku for helping out so far!
Also, Dev stream is currently up: http://www.twitch.tv/aylojill So far i've had it up almost every day. I will try to keep it that way.
Doing some collaboration with http://jeremyku.tumblr.com/ who is a kick ass artist. He generously has provided me a cool model to play with.
I've been doing nearly nothing but coding the last 3 or 4 months in order to teach myself. I suppose immersion is the best way to do it. I've made a few small projects in order to learn, but last week i started on something that might be more sizable. I love co-op games like Protect Me Knight, where you can just hack n slash a bunch of monsters to death with your friends (Local multiplayer). So i figured i'd try something in a similar vein, but with a lot more monsters... maybe. Simple classes, good controls (trying to pull from Fat Princess)... just fun to play.
My other major source of inspiration is a lesser known japanese ps2 game called Ikusagami, or "Demon Chaos". It's a different take on the Dynasty warriors type genre, except instead where there are dozens of enemies, Ikusagami has battles where you literally fight tens of thousands. For a ps2 game, the way they were able to do this was quite impressive. Anyway, i would love to achieve that sort of epicness, but i've already ran into collision pair limits in Unity, which means i must either be more clever, or write my own custom physics.
I'll be doing the Indie Omega Jam for another 2 weeks. Check us out: http://omegajam.com/ I would be streaming today, except i seem to be having trouble getting my Mac to stream. Wirecast kinda sucks, and my Elgato does not work with my Cintiq.
Update: My livestream is live for today: http://www.twitch.tv/aylojill
Anyone here have any experience streaming from Mac? I need solution that doesn't make it impossible to work due to lag.
Oh working title? Uhm... i named the project folder Polyknights. Gonna get back to it!
Along with Corta, i've been working on side projects to teach myself to code in C# for unity. I was having fun with Unity's new sprite editor feature. This is from a game i made originally with Game Salad, but i found their tool to be quite limited. So far this new prototype is functionally superior to the old version of the game i couldn't quite polish enough to put out on the app store.

So the game has been coming along pretty quickly, however i haven't felt entirely settled with the art style for Battle Buddies. I've been picking away at what could be a better look / idea to go with the game, so i ended up with the above concepts. I made at least one of the characters in 3d already, and now i wanna lock down a style for environments. Once i get this stuff jiving together, We'll push all this stuff into the game. The environment stuff above is in illustrator, but yea it should be 3d.
I also named the main character Corta, since we were used to calling the character the "Core", but Corta sounded cuter. I will now hereby refer to this project as Corta, since i really don't like the name Battle Buddies ; P
Uploaded some gameplay video of our tactical game. You can see it in action, though i don't know how well you can make out whats going on. We are only about 2 months in, so we are trying out a lot of different ideas more than anything. A lot of the UI needed to tell you what's what isn't there, so stuff just kinda happens. We also had some bugs with the movement, so if you see a lot of hopping around, thats why.
Redid the main song for my game. This one plays in the first set of puzzles. Hopefully it's good : P
