This is absolutely amazing... I discovered the Taksim Trio thanks to a live program on the French public radio a few days ago and since then I can’t stop listening to them :) They are really as wonderful as Shakti, who inspire them for this cover ^^

Dhafer Youssef's live performence at ASSM, Izmir Turkey in 2013

Dhafer is a Tunisian Oud virtuoso, vocalist and composer and his music is a unique fusion of jazz, rock and Arabic influences. During the concert he and his band are playing some of the tracks from Dhafer's latest album 'Birds Requiem', including my favourite '39th Gülay (To Istanbul)' at 26:05. Lots of unique rhythmic patterns played unison on oud, kanun, piano and clarnet and accompanied by Eivind Aarset’s rock-sounding guitar and strong drums.
