With the government shutdown probably almost over, attention in Washington shifts back to the Trump-Epstein sex scandal.

The US House will be in session again and that means that Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva (D-AZ-07) will finally be sworn in. Her name will be #218 on the discharge petition in the House to release the Epstein files.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD-08) appeared on MSNBC (see above) and brought up a number of issues regarding the massively preferential treatment given to sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell as outlined in a whistleblower report.

Apparently Maxwell, who already gets concierge treatment at her luxury prison (a former hunting lodge), is seeking a commutation from her friend Donald Trump.

In a letter to Trump on Monday, House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jamie Raskin, D-Md., demanded the administration release information about the commutation application and called on Trump to reject her request. “You should not grant any form of clemency to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” Raskin wrote. “Your Administration should not be providing her with room service, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials waiting on her every need, or with any special treatment or institutional privilege at all.”

We can only imagine what a sex fiend like Maxwell is doing with those puppies in her cell suite.

Democrat Adelita Grijalva is heading to Capitol Hill. What her win means

Democrat Adelita Grijalva easily won a special election on Tuesday for a vacant US House seat in Arizona. Considering that Trump lost AZ-07 by double digits last year, her victory was no surprise.

But Ms. Grijalva's win has implications for the Trump-Epstein scandal which may make MAGA very sad.

The narrow Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives is about to be slightly thinner. On Sept. 23, Arizona's Congressional District 7 elected Democrat Adelita Grijalva. Her win comes in a special election to fill the seat of her father, Raúl Grijalva, who died of cancer earlier this year after serving more than 22 years representing the Tucson area. When she will be formally seated is unclear, according to the House Clerk's Office. A holdup from House leaders is not expected. In 2018, after winning a special election, Debbie Lesko was sworn in about two weeks after her win. Adelita Grijalva's win was no surprise in Arizona, but it matters on the national scale. With her win, the GOP's edge over Democrats will effectively shrink to two votes in the House. Her role could become crucial in anticipated votes over the Jeffrey Epstein files, government funding and more.

A discharge petition circulated by Republican Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna of California, needs 218 House members to sign on to force leadership to hold a vote to release the Epstein files. The pair notched their 217th signature earlier this month when Democratic Rep. James Walkinshaw, fresh off winning a special election in Virginia’s 11th District, was sworn in and signed the petition.

Representative-Elect Grijalva will be the 218th name on the Epstein discharge petition. Expect some Republicans to try to delay her swearing-in. But that may outrage House members on both sides of the aisle and be counterproductive.

Insurrection Denial is the latest pathology in the socio-political dysfunction known as Trumpism. It’s the most recent effort to convince people that what really took place on January 6th didn’t take place.

Some of the biggest insurrection deniers have been extremist Republican House members. They are not only trying to protect the Dear Leader but are also trying to make people forget that they were peeing in their pants while they were attempting to flee the mob of terrorists which they themselves had incited.

Gabriela Saucedo Mercer hasn’t even won the Republican primary for Congress in Arizona yet, but she is already facing attacks from the Democratic Congressman (Raúl Grijalva) she is hoping to unseat in November over some incendiary comments she made in the past about Middle Eastern immigrants.

In an interview with a conservative website earlier this year, Saucedo Mercer talked in depth about her views on immigration. A Mexican immigrant herself who became a U.S. citizen, she said the issue was important because people from places other than Mexico were among those coming across the border illegally.

“That includes Chinese, Middle Easterners,” she said. “If you know Middle Easterners, a lot of them, they look Mexican or they look, you know, like a lot of people in South America, dark skin, dark hair, brown eyes. And they mix. They mix in.

“And those people, their only goal in life is to, to cause harm to the United States. So why do we want them here, either legally or illegally? When they come across the border, besides the trash that they leave behind, the drug smuggling, the killings, the beheadings. I mean, you are seeing stuff. It’s a war out there.”

Saucedo Mercer gave the interview originally to a conservative website called Western Free Press, but it went almost unnoticed until now. On Tuesday afternoon, it had only 215 views on YouTube.

Still, she has been a favorite in some Republican circles. On her website, she boasts of numerous endorsements, including from retired Lt. Gen. William Boykin, known for his anti-Muslim views, as well as Arizona’s Secretary of State Ken Bennett (R), who apologized for embarrassing the state earlier this year after he threatened to keep Barack Obama off the November ballot if the president couldn’t prove he was really born in the United States.

Saucedo Mercer’s Facebook page shows her posing for photos next to former presidential candidate Herman Cain as well as presumptive Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan.

In the interview, Saucedo Mercer also commented on the religious affiliations of some of some immigrants who were crossing the border illegally. She said evidence of Muslims crossing the border were found in the desert in Arizona.
