Heydar Aliyev Center "They wanted to have something unique, something which is looking at the future, somehow showing their soft, romantic side but at the same time their optimistic side.” - Saffet Kaya Bekiroglu, associate at 'Zaha Hadid Architects' and Project Leader on the ‘Heydar Aliyev Center’. Fluidity in architecture is not new to this region. In historical Islamic architecture, rows, grids or sequences of columns flow to infinity, establishing non-hierarchical space. Continuous calligraphic and ornamental patterns flow from carpets to walls, walls to ceilings, ceilings to domes, establishing seamless relationships and blurring distinctions between architectural elements and the ground they inhabit. 'Zaha Hadid Architects' intention was to relate to that historical understanding of architecture by developing a firmly contemporary interpretation, reflecting a more nuanced understanding. The Center incorporates a precisely terraced landscape that connects routes between public plaza, building and underground parking. #chapeaulondon #chapeaublog #dedicatedtothethingswelove #wordsandpictures #amazing #london #lifestyle #heydaraliyevcenter #baku #azericulture #zahahadidarchitects #azerbaijan #design #arcitecture #optimism #gallery #museum #auditorium (at Heydar Aliyev Center)
