Taking in the expansive view of Duluth, Minnesota, and Extending My Gaze Beyond to the Majestic Lake Superior by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: The setting extends to the southeast, offering a panoramic view from an overlook along the W Skyline Pkwy in Duluth, Minnesota. My intention in composing this image was to take advantage on the elevated position I was on, angling my Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera slightly downward to elevate the horizon into the image. I also wanted a wider angle focal length to bring out more of that panoramic feel. As for the image, it looks down onto parts of Duluth, MN, the Saint Louis River, John A. Blatnik Bridge, and then beyond to Lake Superior. One thing I did clean up in the image was to use Photoshop to remove portions of a roadway behind the nearby trees. I felt the roadway was distracting for the image composition. So adding only a little bit of change to include generated trees and a grassy meadow behind seemed better for the final image.

Naknek Lake and Distant Mountain Peaks of Mount Katolinat and Mount La Gorce (Katmai National Park & Preserve) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: I captured this image at the Lower River Platform with a view looking to the East. The view is across the waters of Naknek Lake with the peaks of Mount Katolinat and Mount La Gorce off in the distance. By pulling back on the focal length and angling my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward, I felt I was able to bring out a more sweeping view across this landscape in Katmai National Park.

Saint Louis River, John A. Blatnik Bridge, and Beyond to Lake Superior by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: I captured this image with a view extending to the east from an overlook around the Duluth, Minnesota, area. With this image, I wanted to focus on the more distant Blatnik Bridge with the river waters flowing by and underneath out to Lake Superior. The rest was raising the horizon a little higher into the image to create more of a sweeping view in the image. I still wanted to have the bridge itself more or less centered in the image.

Fresh Ideas for Travel in Pinnacles National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking around the Chaparral Trailhead Parking area with a view looking to the east-southeast to the High Peaks with its eroded rock formations and volcanic leftovers. This is in Pinnacles National Park. With this image, I took advantage of some high ground I was located on and captured a look across some wild grasses and sage brushes. With that angled look, I brought the High Peaks up into the image and had only a little portion of blue skies above to be a backdrop for the setting.

Going to Luckenbach, Texas by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: The famous, iconic landmark in Luckenbach, Texas. The view is looking to the east. My thinking in composing this image was to include much of the oak trees surrounding this building and structure as a complement with the more rural setting of this location. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 4 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.
