Jasper National Park...Another Ultimate Stress Escape! by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While at the Stutfield Glacier Viewpoint along the Icefields Parkway with a view looking to the southwest. This is in Jasper National Park.

The Stars and Stripes with a Mountain Backdrop (Glacier National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking around the shores of Swiftcurrent Lake with a view looking across those waters to the southwest and mountains of the Northern Lewis Range and Continental Divide. This is located in the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park. One can see the light dusting of snow that had happened the night prior from a recent front that came through. With the clouds hanging over the mountains, there was a mood that seemed to draw me into the setting and image captured. My thought on composing this image was to align myself to center the flagpole with the American flag and then have a backdrop of the mountains behind it. Given I was doing post-processing work with this image a few days before Veterans Day, I felt that day would add to the memories of my time and service as an Army officer.

Remembering a Sunday in Ashland by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the southwest while taking in views across a carpet of fallen leaves in Lithia Park during a stay in Ashland Oregon. This image was captured with my iPhone using a portrait orientation. My thinking in composing this image was to use that look and capture a sweeping view over the fallen leaves with its autumn colors across this city park landscape. With the overcast and cloudy skies that late afternoon, I felt it helped to bring out more vibrant colors in the image captured. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 5 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.

I later did a conversion to black & white using Silver Efex Pro 2 where I used some color filters to bring out a much richer tonal contrast for the final image.w

Remembering a Sunday in Voyageurs National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting extending to the southwest while taking in views to some nearby evergreen trees and a bald eagle atop one of them. This was while I was on the Grand Voyageur Tour in Voyageurs National Park. The rest of the image composition was attempting to center the eagle and capture a look forward.

My thought in composing this image was to zoom in with the full length and center the ridges and peaks of Angel Wing and Mount Gould in the image. I also wanted to expose this image so that I didn't lose any of the details present in the overcast skies that somewhat hid the peaks and mountains. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 7 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.
