Admit it, who else here loves the weird couples of Tolkien's world that are logically incompatible? ;)
I've read some fanfics, I've known there was such "shipping" for a long time, I have little understanding of how you can combine an elf with an orc, so it's interesting for me to see some fanfics. It's interesting to see how people try to justify what's going on. Alas, it is often boring. And it often uses the theme of sexual violence, which personally doesn't appeal to me. Not attracted because it looks like cheap porn, with bad actors, but it has a plot for some reason. Also because rape is not a pleasant topic.
But there are some… good fics. (By the way, can you recommend fanfics on Tolkien's universe in the comments. Fanfics that you'd like to illustrate for example… Maybe I'll be inspired by something and draw some full arts, or maybe I'll laugh at something and share some funny sketches with you?)
I generally like to make jokes when reading fanfics. I do not take fics as seriously as books, so in any text, when I see strange plot twists, stupidity or other moments that cling to the eye, I laugh. (“Laugh” not in a bad way. On the contrary, it's my way of smoothing out the impression of the fanfic. If I've spent time on something that amused me, it's not so miserable, right?)
And don't think I'm grousing about this couple, there's a charm to it. And I actually like some of the ideas that can be discussed within the framework of what elves and orcs feel, see and think about each other. There's so much interesting stuff in that.
