Alpha realized that people actually die, and needed a place to keep their souls. He asked Izu, one of his long time friends to take over, along with ten other monitors.

The job of the monitor is to keep spirits and some demons in check, they are protectors. Despite having such a gloomy place and job, they're quite full of life!
