Well, spanish is my first language so the first one that came to mind was "sereno" which translates to "serene" but we also refer to the humidity of the air at night. We have a phrase: "Será el sereno" - "Must be the serene" that we use when the reasons or the explanation of something doesn't convince us. In this case the sereno was the person who was in charge of patrolling the streets at night and lighting up the street lamps!
