I’m not familiar with this world, but it doesn’t matter!! I’m hooked. Love how you blend modern life with hints of the Rapunzel fairy-tale in a world where the magical appear to be the norm rather than the exception. As you introduced us to Kore and her surroundings, I felt Kore’s loneliness, her anxiety, her desire for seclusion, her curiosity about the woman, and her affection for Theo. The pacing of the plot is spot on and the prose flows nicely.

This passage is a favorite of mine - [Long-limbed and with brown eyes, she moved with the grace of a fairy, feet barely touching the ground. It was because she used to take ballet, that was what the woman said, but the girl was certain she had in fact come alive from a tale of magic.] Coming alive from a tale of magic feels like a good metaphor for where this story may take the reader.

Thank you for creating this story. Though Kore feels both innocent and grown-up for her age, I look forward to seeing how she will grow.

OOH GOOD QUESTION! hm.......daisy mercer's been wavering between her loyalties so i think, given the right amount of pushing on the end of peter knox & her mother, she would go over to their side. then daisy and miriam would TRULY fit the definition of enemies to lovers!

azusawrites: Which side does Nina pick in Civil War? Why?

nina is on the captain america side of things. i don't remember the exact details of the accords so i’m looking at the wiki page for it rn, and it looks like a lot of the details are from aos. i’m not exactly sure how canon aos is in the main mcu timeline anymore (in nina’s fic the first season is, at the very least, but that’s the only one i ever watched and i don’t want to pick it up again so that’s probably it) but i’m going with it anyways

but the gist of her stance is that while she does think the avengers need some kind of supervision and oversight, she does have some issues with the accords as they were written. to be more specific she disagrees with these two parts which i have just copied and pasted from the wiki (certain parts she’s got Issues with bolded for Emphasis):

Any enhanced individuals who agree to sign must register with the United Nations and provide biometric data such as fingerprints and DNA samples.

and from the page on the avengers civil war as an event: Ross went on to explain that anyone who refused to sign would be forced to "retire"

basically steve makes a lot of good points that nina agrees with. nina’s not an avenger so she doesn’t actually get much of a say, but at that point she does work FOR them so she does get a word or two in against the accords

edit: WAIT I FORGOT ABOUT THE BUCKY THING! like nina’s not majorly involved with the accords or bucky or the civil war — she’s involved slightly more than sharon but definitely less than the avengers themselves — but my last paragraph definitely still applies

mara el masri — she was taught how to defend herself when she was young by her father, who's a former medjai warrior. as for weapons, she prefers a bow and arrow but she does know how to shoot a gun nina kovac — she was a marine & then a shield agent. prefers guns but is good with hand-to-hand combat, carries a knife as a back-up weapon tatiana zhao — is a widow taken by the red room as a child which i think speaks for itself (she's brand new! still getting details added to her but this is basically the bare bones of her backstory) violet — grew up on the streets of telmar, had to learn how to survive. good with swords. bad with people

as a bonus daisy mercer's going to learn how to use her magic to protect herself, taught by diana & eleanor ainsley learns how to fight hand-to-hand from myka and can use a tesla (which is basically a SciFi Stun Gun) (here's the link to the warehouse 13 wiki page on teslas if anyone was curious!!)

hello!!! hmmm..........i think this one goes to ashley adams, and definitely a positive change! she starts off as this, like, extremely annoying person who doesn't think before she talks, and she ends her series by coming into her own and accepting herself and who her family is
