Peter slept.

For maybe the first time since he’d been rescued he slept.

Curled on his side with one flesh arm thrown over his head and the other metal tucked protectively to his chest, he’d bunched the blanket up over his chest to hide the sickly green glow of the green matter core that resided there.

Rabbit sat at the edge of his bed, back to the wall and a copper hand brushing the hair behind his ear, humming quietly. He hadn’t done this since Peter Sixth was a child.

He’d screamed, the call loud and desperate.

He’d called out but not out loud, It had only been audible over the houses wifi frequency. Even if he was freaked out and refused to attempt to use it while awake he seemed to gravitate to it while asleep, Rabbit had heard whimpers from the boy over it before.

He’d cut the signal off from the others as soon as he realized what it was. Apologized to The Spine, made a crack about a grown bot like him still having bad dreams even as he’d made his way as fast as he could to the youngest of the Walter lines room.

He found the young man pressed against the wall, arms wrapped around his knee’s and eyes wide filled with terror. He wasn’t awake and Rabbit knew it, had experienced it often enough himself. 

Inside his head Peter will still be back there, in Igantius’ lab with the scalpel probably already starting its work. 

He jerked when Rabbit took hold of him, struggling against a memory and Rabbit let him, muttering soft soothing stuttered words as he slowly came out of the night terror. 

He shivered and collapsed against the copper automaton sobbing into his shoulder. “It’s okay, you’re g-g-gonna be okay kiddo.”

He wrapped his arms around Peter as he cried, there would be many more nights like this he was sure.

“I gotcha. I’m not gonna let an-anything happen to ya ever-r-r again.”

Did I just hear a thud? Is everyone okay? +Michael+

What happened? that was loud! +Michael+

. . . My leg locked up and I fell -_-; +Peter+

Again? You uh, want me to see if I can magic the malfunction away? +Michael+

GAH FUCK YOU GUYSSometimes I can’t get to sleep because of the nightmares or because I can’t hear my heart or I can feel the way my lungs move now and it freaks me out because half of them is just gone and he replaced it with half assed parts and Its too much and I’m so tired so I just press that emergency shut down button on the back of my neck and I’m gone and it’s great because I don’t dream and I don’t think or anything and eventually I boot back up and I’ll have actually slept for once and fuck i really hate this honesty magic thing. +Peter+

Marshmallow was scared of Peter for a few days.

((No, but he thought she was when she started growling the first time she saw him after he’d been rescued, it turned out she was just that pissed off about what had been done to him. She wouldn’t let him out of her sight or stop trying to mother him for over a week after it’d happened))

Peter winks at himself in the mirror.

((Peter winks at himself, sticks his tongue out, grins, makes silly faces. It’s nice having his old face back.

Then he catches sight of the metal implant over his temple, Or the sickly colored glow of his green matter core and suddenly he doesn’t much like looking at himself anymore))
