I was planning to make my next art post to be that animation thingy but I’ve been in love with B-daman recently.
Shirobon? Kiirobon? Akabon? Aobon? Kurobon? I’m pregnant and it’s yours
Old ass sketches from the ye old days of 20 fucking 18. Whaddaya mean it’s been 7 years since then??! God I feel old.
Anyways this is propaganda to have Burst fans watch B-Daman Crossfire/Fireblast, it’s basically beyblade but with marbles and it’s pretty goooooood. And arguably better and more fulfilling than Burst cough
While you can watch the series on YouTube, it’s original distribution has been taken down some time ago, so to watch the two seasons your gonna have to watch em by… other means. The full season of Fireblast can be found on Dailymotion, but to watch the first season, the first 9 episodes of Crossfire are on the official YouTube channel so give em a watch to see if you’re interested, but to watch the rest, you’re gonna have to find the rest else where. Sure there are uploads up of the other episodes, but if ya want em in full and in relatively good quality, do the ladder.
I've been busy with other obsessions lately but I'm thinking of doing a rewatch soon.
I don't think we talk about this enough, but the Battle B-daman English dub is seriously a triumph of 2000s anime. A lot of the changes, big and small, are things that were common or required to change at the time to make anime palatable to western audiences, but this team used them to make the show better. Maybe it's nostalgia talking, but this is a dub written with a lot of love in it.
My fave example of this is like, you all know Gray's iconic monologue over his training with the bells? That's an addition in the dub because there was this belief at the time that silent scenes would cause children to lose interest. But they used it to do some extra character work for Gray while he's away from the main team.
Also never forget they let Steve Blum write his own character's mental breakdown episode. That's art.
Cross fire b-daman isn't the best show ever but dared to make my faves bicker, which is amazing
Samuru was a little more difficult to create because if his face isn’t correct then he looks out of character.
This asset was used for the promotional poster.
In B-Daman Rapidfire, Samuru returns as one of the main protagonist.
