Prepping for a Long Drive with Your Trailer Truck
When you’re sitting back in your trailer for some long-distance travel, there’s nothing much to worry about other than your destination and the road in front of you. When you’ve packed everything your truck needs such as extra gas and your truck trailer’s spare parts, you’re pretty much free to tune in to the road and wait as the distance between you and your destination grows smaller.
However, there’s something about sitting back in the cushions of your B-double trailer and watch as the miles pass by – things can get a little monotone. When you think about it, no matter how amazing your truck trailer might be, driving is just simply sitting inside a small space and watching the road go by. Unless you’re racing with a friend, driving for a long period of time can get a little tiresome. Plus, you never know what can happen while you travel. Which is why it’s always a good idea to pack some important items in your truck trailer if you’re planning for a long ride.
Comfort items can go a long way when you’re traveling for a long time. If you have a small fridge stowed away in your B-double trailer, it would be nice to store some extra food and drinks in there. There’s no need to add anything fancy. Maybe a few chips to munch on while you focus on the long winding road or a sandwich while you fill up at the gas station. You can pack some healthy snacks in there as well such as yogurt, fruit and vegetable cuts.
Entertainment items are good things to pack for your long-distance travel as well. Nowadays, entertainment is available instantly through your phone. However, you’ll most likely pass areas with low phone signal or you might simply need to save up on battery consumption. In that case, it’d be great to bring a music player to help pass the time during your long-distance drive. You could also bring a book to read when you’re resting at a truck stop.
Aside from your truck trailer’s spare parts, an essential item to pack in your truck trailer would be a medical kit. This should include essential items for first aid such as medical tape, 4x4 Gauze pads, splints, bandages, tourniquet and disinfectants. No need to go all-out and add extra items you might not need. The purpose of this first aid kit is to remedy small injuries such as cuts and scrapes and prevent them from being infected. In the event of a major road incident, it would be better to contact an ambulance instead.
Another thing you should pack is a safety kit. The contents of such kits are things you might need in case your B-double trailer breaks down and the spare parts didn’t hold up well. If you find yourself isolated and away from the nearest town, you’re going to need the few essential items in your safety kit. This includes flashlight, extra batteries, lighter, toiletries, water and ready-to-eat food. It would help to pack an extra phone as well in case your personal one runs out of battery.
A long-distance adventure with your trailer can be exciting and safe when you have the right things onboard. You can pack anything you need to help alleviate the monotone of long-distance driving. However, don’t go overboard and drive responsibly. It would not be a good idea to store liquor in your trailer or look at your phone for some quick entertainment while you drive.
