His large scale works often reflect on moments and figures in both history and current events, particularly focused on the Black American experience. Titanic murals dripping in bold colors, the painted likeness of figures past, present, famous, unknown, made giants and given a platform through the work. The works are conversational and thought provoking, inspiring and empowering. And outside of his New Orleans studio, a naturally lit black and white portrait will just have to do here. Whether you’re hip to his work from his recent book cover for Will Smith’s autobiography, or you’ve been immersed in his murals before, I highly recommend you follow his work.
