→ ☾ Oh how at first Brody thought nothing of it. Mae was occasionally late, and it wasn’t as though Brody felt the need or the urge to control Mae, to tell him to come home at a certain time. He was not that kind of husband and never planned to be. Never enforcing things upon his love. When he saw the rings on their bedside, Brody’s smile on his lips was gentle as he slipped his loves rings onto his pinky, fitting perfectly.
And he had not qualm keeping the the rings on his fingers as he went about his day, but it was so worrying whenever Mae didn’t come home without so much as a message. It made Brody feel like he was on edge, every nerve in his body ready to pounce--and it was ever present amongst the pack. His nerves putting them all on edge as an Alpha did--keeping them calm with his own feelings, and agitating them the same.
So when he smelt the blood in the air as soon as he caught scent of his love, he was there in a flash, not even thinking of how fast he was moving until Mae was in his arms. And there was terror in his eyes as he looked his love up at down. He could smell the blood, imagine the bruises on Mae’s skin made of art. Anger bubbling up in his entire posture, in his composure, in his voice.
“Who did this.” Brody didn’t need to ask, the scent of them was on Mae’s skin under every injury. Brody would easily find them, and when he did he was not afraid of the blood, of letting his wolf rip them to shred. You did not hurt someone Brody loved and get away with it. ☽ ←
