in this video, they go through episodes 32-42 (if it‘s not for their discussion about VRains, at least admire Dylan in a Yami Yugi-wig x’PP )
like Cal (the one at the left front), I have to admit that yeah, even though I don’t like Specter as a character, and that his background story doesn’t affect me much than “eow, you’re gross”, he did a pretty good job as a villain up until his death (one major thing is still that I don’t believe he was a Lost Baby even though we got footage about that! I still think it was just to mess with Yusaku’s mind like he did it with Blue Angel)
plus, I agree with their reasoning that Go isn’t that good developed like other characters and we’d have liked. but there’s still season 2, and I do expect great things from our beefy boy!
when they start to talk about Dr. Kogami, I don’t only understand his drastic motives better (not that I support them or like him more now, I really don’t) but I also got reminded of the theory about Giovanni from the Pokémon franchise. just a very quick heads up: Giovanni is the leader of the Evil Team in the first two generations who created a new Pokémon by using the DNS of another Pokémon. but that genetically cloned Pokémon got way too powerful and frees himself from Giovanni’s clutches so he desperately looks for solutions to take back control over him. Kmack Time on Youtube explains the theory more in detail. since it’s another franchise that may require knowledge on it to understand it completely, except for @authoratmidnight , I’m not sure if you guys get where I’m going with it.
what rather interests me in seeing in the next season than the new enemy is how their recovery will take place after everything that happened in season 1. because VRains started from 0 to 100 and never really chilled in hindsight. even though we had some weaker episodes and up to four recap episodes (goodness), it was a powerful season. it kind of even had finale-season-feeling but it was the first. so how will they continue from there? so there’s potential to drop drastically like 5D’s after season 1 (as much as I hate to say it) but for once, I wouldn’t mind a slower pace so all characters, especially Yusaku, get time to come down, to process everything and evaluate all the new information they got (especially if Ryoken does turn out to be Yusaku’s Special Person! just like @pendulumprince wrote here and here)
then I got a thought while listening to the boys’ rambling – who is to say that with defeating the Knights of Hanoi and deactivating the Tower of Hanoi, that everything is revealed? maybe only the affiliation of the Knights, or more precisely the role Dr. Kogami and Ryoken had (maybe even Specter, Faust and Vyra) gets revealed. but don’t forget that at the time the Lost Incident took place, Dr. Kogami was still an employee of SOL Technology. they definitely have a skeleton in their closet. they aren’t that innocent as they may like to be.
