As you may not of known, on February 14th, 2021 Sir Ari Gold passed away after a long battle with leukemia. He is known to JEM fans as the singing voice for Ba Nee with her song “A Father Should Be” as well as being a frequent honored guest to Jemcon. As Jemzine #3 is centered around the beloved music of the cartoon, we felt it would be perfect to dedicate this issue in his memory.

He was a proud gay Jewish man and the world is darker without him.

Rest in peace Sir Ari Gold. Thank you for giving Ba Nee her song.

Day 9: Your favourite quote

I’ve got a few, actually. I’m bi; you can’t make me choose

“You... you’d do that for me?” — Roxy to Ba Nee, “Roxy Rumbles”

This line hits right in the feels. Roxy knows Jerrica/Jem and the Holograms had written the Misfits off from the get-go—and that the Misfits had done absolutely nothing to engender goodwill between the bands. Moreover, we know by this point that Roxy was not accustomed to a life of kindness or compassion.

For Ba Nee, then, to take the step and genuinely care about Roxy had to have meant a lot to her, and she couldn’t really understand it. It’s so incredibly heartwarming (and, to be frank, a little bit sad). When she tells Ba Nee to "beat it” when Eric and the Misfits show up, she’s not doing it to be cruel; she’s doing it for both her own sake and Ba Nee’s. This little bit of dialogue reveals a lot about Roxy’s character.

That, right there, is Stormer’s character. Her heart might seem out of place in the Misfits, but honestly, what’s more punk than going against the grain to do the right thing? Stormer is fantastic.

the thing with ba nee and the zoo is so much worse than i remember. because why did she actually jump over the railing because someone who is not her father said "i'm not your father" ???? and then she slipped....

and also the part where she heard this drummer guy with red hair say he served in vietnam and immediately decided this was her dad. i mean she's young and wants a dad but this is still so outrageous to watch
