This island, decrepit and desolate as it was, had somehow managed to prove itself a treasure trove of old acquaintances for Sousuke, as though each time sprouting from dry cracks in the Earth to provide bittersweet reunion. Yes, he was happy to see them, always. But the circumstances under which they reconciled left much to be desired. Unless your idea of a good time was being stranded on a floating wedge of land in the middle of God knows which ocean.
Elvir, however, was currently in the running for worst possible timing for said reunions. After a whole day of complete havoc being wrought all over by creatures tailored from the very fabric of nightmares, the surroundings appeared more of a ravaged mess than usual. On the plus side, amidst such bleak scenery, an angel had been easy to spot. Though at first, Sousuke didn’t quite believe his eyes, but upon drawing closer ( even if it was only the back of Elvir’s head ) the other’s identity had been confirmed; He’d recognise that swishy golden hair and fancy old robes anywhere.
“E-Elvir, hey!” Hesitation faltered his voice, if only because not everyone had been returned with their memories intact. He wasn’t sure how much more of a blow he could take on that front, but braved the risk anyway.
“When did you get here?”
