I've been meaning to weigh in on how I feel about the Babadook/Pennywise ship. Okay, first, I'm a M/M slash shipper and have seen a lot of weird bizarre ships over the years, so this one doesn't phase me. I'm also a horror fan and have saw horror icons be shipped together as gay couples, such as Jason/Freddy, I'm not new to horror slash either. No, I don't think they're gay icons, but I also think it doesn't hurt the LGBT+ community cuz there have been worse gay ships in fanfiction and fandom. They are not real, they are fictional characters and it is only fanfiction and fanart, etc. No, I don't think Penny is homophobic cuz he eats a gay dude in the book, actually look up what inspired King to write that scene and fact check for once. It is a alien monster, an embodiment of fear, which It feeds on, yes, It's the villain of the story, the book, the movies, and the mini series. It doesn't care about gender or sexuality or race, It sees all as food and uses whatever It can to drag out the fear It feeds on. Also, yes, It eats kids, they're easier targets, but at no point is Pennywise a child molester. Murderer, yes. Rapist, no. Stop that shit. Also, I'll remind again, both monsters are fictional! Penny also has no gender specifically. It appears as a male clown mostly, and most fantasize about Penny being a he, that's fine. It is a shapeshifter. It also appears as a female spider and can lay eggs. It could appear as a female if It chose to, and in the 1990 version, Pennywise appears as Beverly and makes out with Ben. Let's not forget Penny 17 appearing as that creepy painting of flute lady. Basically, Penny can be used anyway and as anything in fandom, so 'he' can even be made gay. Personally, I don't think Penny would care about gay or straight. But to each their own headcannon, it's up to our own interpretation. Babadook being gay seems to be just a joke that got out of hand. Sadly, I think it got placed in the gay section on Netflix or photo shopped that way as some punk's way of calling it gay as in stupid. Which sucks. Pennydook also seemed to get way out of hand, most of it's just crack and shouldn't be taken seriously. But it does have some cute fanart that I like. I do like slash, and the most of 2017 Penny fandom is Pennywise x female reader. The only gay you get with Penny is Two Cents, 1990 Old Penny x 2017 New Penny, which I actually prefer to Pennydook. Actually Pennydook makes no sense to me. Creeperwise makes more sense to me cuz they both eat people and feed off their fear. (Creeper from Jeepers Creepers). I'll explain below why Babadook being in compatible with Pennywise makes little sense to me outside of the excuse that 'they both terrorize kids.' Spoilers for the Babadook beneath the lines cuz I can't cut on my phone. ------ I saw Babadook only recently on Netflix. I didn't care for it, but it wasn't bad. Honestly the parts that scared me the most weren't the monster. The kid threw fits and I used to throw fits as a child myself due to depression and I'd get abused and yelled at and shook for it. So I kept thinking this kid's mother was gonna beat the shit out of him and I'd have mini panic attacks. So the kid saw monsters and had fits, the mother was still grieving the loss of her husband on the day of the child's actual birth 7 years ago and was having a hard time. So they find the Babadook book and things start happening, they get rid of the book, it comes back, Babadook gets in, and basically makes her deal with her inner hatred for her child, the death of her husband, makes her fight it and deal with all the bullshit weighing down on her and her son so they can be better. Basically the Babadook is the most misunderstood monster in horror. It doesn't kill the mother and child- even if it makes it feel like the mother will eventually kill her son, she doesn't. The Babadook actually helps them get thru shit and be better, then lives in their basement like a pet. Babadook isn't the child predator in this movie like Pennywise is in It. I normally don't have this level of sympathy for monsters even as a horror lover, but he wasn't even scary.
