My son’s version of nursing is to take my nipple between his terrible little rigid gums and yank.
I do not like this new trick.
1) I have a lot of anxieties about giving birth, whether vaginally or cesarean, but above all, I think I’m most stressed out about the idea of not being cleaned up properly afterward, or having to wait too long to have a shower after. I am so stressed by the idea of not being able to wash myself immediately. I know the baby will take over as priority in my brain when the time comes, at least. And maybe that will make things not so bad.
2) I have pica apparently. OB says it isn’t a problem since my blood count has been fine, just don’t give in to the urges. I don’t have the classic dirt eating kind. Instead, I have a desperate fixation to sniff cleaning chemicals and disinfectants. I’d give almost anything to take a bath in a mixture of bleach and isopropyl alcohol. Obviously I am not messing with toxic chemicals or huffing them or putting them on my body, but I am letting myself get a sniff of alcohol every now and then. It’s almost on par with the intensity of sexual relief???
3) I’m 34 weeks and just now one pound above my starting weight. OB is very concerned still. Baby seems to be growing fine, though. My belly size is on track. Husband and I have both seen his little foot stick out, so we know he is growing well. I have to get an ultrasound next week though to make sure he is of proper size and weight. He takes up like my whole damn abdomen though so I cant picture him being too small...

So, this is Rowan! He’s growin great and was rowdy as hell. We have to do a follow-up ultrasound to finish getting measurements because he wouldn’t stop rolling wildly. Also, he greeted us feet-and-ass-first.
