Thanks for your interesting post about PoW coronets. Wouldn't a excuse for PW be that PC's was only intended for him because of his astrological sign being on it? That could be a good rationale for going back to Prince George's. Or perhaps it could meet with an unfortunate "accident." LOL
Oops, I dropped it out of the Tower!

I don't like the one Charles used either, but would William want to use Prince George's Coronet when it's so closely associated with the Duke of Windsor?
That is a concern but I think that because it wasn’t made for him and he’s not the only person to wear it then it should be fine.

I agree Prince Charles' coronet was very "modern" for its time, and so specific to him that I think it would be odd for someone else to wear. I think Prince William would look great in Prince George's 2nd coronet, the one without the fur and fabric.
The one without the cap and arch was Edward (aka David)’s coronet not George’s. I’m not sure if that one still exists but even if it does I don’t think it will be used because it really doesn’t follow all of the rules of what a Prince of Wales’ coronet should have.

I don’t think this is a piece of jewelry but a complete theatrical piece. It was designed by Snowden who designed the entire investiture. It’s very “Henry V,” isn’t it? There are even stories how the monde on top is a spray-painted ping-pong ball. I don’t think William will use this. Maybe they’ll patch it up.
The whole investiture was very Snowdon. The thrones catch my eye every time I watch it.

Would Prince William only wear a coronet at his investiture or any time "crowns and gowns" are expected?
He will wear the coronet at his investiture and at his father’s coronation if he is created Prince of Wales before the coronation. George V and the Duke of Windsor were both created PoW after their father’s ascension but before the coronation so that is probably what will happen with William. Ideally, he will be created PoW before the coronation and then the investiture will happen after the coronation.

Well putting Charles' astrological sign on it makes it very personal, doesn't it? I wonder if they plan to make a new one for every Prince of Wales from here on, but that would be a waste, imo.
Yeah, making a new one for every Prince of Wales would be terrible pr. I don’t think that that’s their intention.
