A little lore updates in magma sketches.
Bacetron was a fleet captain once. But was put in cargo shipping as fleet was no longer in main focus. She wasn’t happy with this decision but made sure to keep her cool armor. Well you probably recognise this armor. Yes, Sem took it after overthrowing. And that’s another motivation for Bac to find them.
Some domestic business violence.
Also unrelated but Det has a habit of nibbling his own tendrils when brainstorming or feeling nervous/anxious.
Even less related but splithead babies for me are like small geckos. After they were born as warms.
BACETRON IN COLOUR, FINALLY!
Her first appearance is before Semul overthrew her. She in fact survived and returned into business. Let’s say her flesh changes colour once a while. Batrons aren’t persons. They don’t talk (they do small squeaky noises instead) but somehow it’s easy to understand them. They are part of ship’s crew. And many of those recognised Semul as new captain after overthrowing. Bakstag in fact refers to bakstagwind, one of many wind courses.
Baceron but in watercolours.
Here it is obvious how much this paper does do well with watercolour when I try more than one layer but maybe it is okay and I just was tricked by paints when they look awful and messy when wet. Bac doesn’t have to be so glossy, this is just me. And I’m only adjusting to how large her face-head is.
Some slightly more realistic proportions since I draw splitheads less cartoonish than Bac in general. I imagine her being a little taller than Pongorma. And Sem should’ve stand a little lower. They are indeed small. Also, jazz hands :3
Bacetron posting! Getting used to draw her as she’s built the way that is unusual for me but funny to play with. Yes, she will wear every hat like that. It’s convenient. Gave her low heels just so she could stomp intimidatingly. Still figuring out her palette.
So here we go, I’m still figuring out design details (I lean toward mask-like face like on last pic) and palette but current info is:
BACETRON (bah-tce-tron). She/any, goes by sir/mister, has deep rusty female voice. Captain of a ship that delivers different cargo including bug eggs for juice ranches.
Charismatic yet egocentric and careless person, surely a boss.
Semul was sailing on that ship, had to obey her like many other sailors working way harder than they supposed to. She was an obvious intolerable reason why (one day after many such trips) Semul got rid of her and her vices, patrons etc leaving those who agreed to obey them instead. Since then Semul does raids on different places. Is she dead? Is she alive? Who knows…
Also them both are from further set of islands.
Sem stands there in some kind of ridiculous uniform but mostly they work almost bare, in gloves, maybe boots and pants/shorts, usually sweaty. This is how they got so buff.
