After enough generations an immortal being mating with a descendant isn't really incest so much as backcrossing.

Backcrossing is a crossing of a hybrid with one of its parents or an individual genetically similar to its parent

Note "parent" in this definition could be a plant. I first learned the term with regard to crops.

Just a thought on how fantasy kingdoms might try and preserve "purity" with help of a supernatural founder

The lettuce we eat is a close relative to the lettuce we weed out of our gardens. Last week we discussed the potential that wild relatives may have for improving cultivated lettuce. But if wild lettuce can be crossed with cultivated lettuce to create new cultivars, can cultivated lettuce cross with wild lettuce to make it more weedy?
