Hi! So Im planning on cosplaying Zeitgeist from Deadpool 2 (I submitted a ref image) and Im really stuck on how to go about making his mask/vomit guard thing. Its got a super toxic/neon green/yellow colour to it, and looks to be a thick plastic sheet. Im literally at a loss on where to start with it with the plastic shield part. Thanks so much!

Hello there!

The cheapest and easiest way: cut it from a 2 liter soda bottle. Be sure to sand the edges well so that they are no longer sharp. It may not be quite as bright as this plastic, but you may be able to find a bottle in a similar color. If you add a layer of yellow translucent paint, you may be able to approximate that shade with something like a Mountain Dew bottle.

Otherwise, you are looking at heatforming a plastic yourself. If you are able to find some neon green polycarbonate (seems to be easiest to find online) or PETG (much more difficult), or acrylic (more difficult to cut and form), you can heat these with a heat gun over a heat-proof form to create the shape.

If you cannot find the right color plastic, you have a few ways to create the color. One way would be to cover it in a clear neon green vinyl fabric or headlight tint film (I would use the headlight tint film because you won’t have to worry about adhesives). You may also be able to use a neon or glow-in-the-dark paint for this. Use thin layers, and mix it in a medium that makes it more transparent. Airbrushing this on would be best, but if you are careful, you can sponge it on. You may also have luck with a product like Design Master Tint It, which is designed to go on translucent.

Many plastics can also be dyed with polyester dyes, but this may be a difficult color to achieve with that method.
