Never thought I'd end my Asia trip with such a difficult return back to the States. Life finds a way to balance positive moments with a few negatives, I guess. The important thing is how you, yourself balance those negatives with positives. That's what I learned/ experienced in this past couple days: 27 hours in Beijing Airport felt like a week in prison. No sleep, no proper food, no shower, and no internet (WhatsApp, skype, gmail, facebook all banned. Welcome to China! 🇨🇳 ❌❌) Nobody speaks a word of english. nobody cares about you. Mind you Airlines staff (@AirChina) may even call you a terrorist for the passport you carry. 😱You wonder how they hosted #Beijing2008 games. However, it's important to find ways to come back from darkness and what feels like an eternal prison since you may or not be selected to be on that next flight back to New York or that flight may very well be canceled in any minute. In those long hours of uncertainty about how I'd get back home or at the very least, speak to my family, I was lucky to have met some incredible people who showed me love and sympathy and proved again that traveling is about building tolerance and appreciation of one another despite some mean people or unlucky situations. Shout out to the muslim traveling couple from South Africa, Farah Naz and Samir with their 1 yo child, who embraced me like their second child, and Emily from San Fran, who's been backpacking in Asia for 3 months, who has inspired me to continue traveling despite rough moments only to find opportunities like these to meet the most interesting people in the most unexpected situations.🌏 It's 8 am on Monday, I'm on boltbus going back to Philly with my bags about 34 hours later than anticipated, causing me to miss a full workday today. :( Soon, I'll be on a new plane going to a new place to meet new people because it's worth it.Till then i'll be passed out 💤 💤. Can't wait to get back on the san diego state project (@aztecadaptivesports) that i've been thinking a lot about cuz -> #aztecadaptivesportsshowcase is coming up in 3 weeks and we'll be in San Diego!✨✨Jan 26-27, 2018. ✨✨ #alwayssomethingtolookforwardto #neverstopexploring #backtogramming (at New York, New York)
