(&:) I have been lurking less than usual because figuring out how to back up everything is taking up all the time that I have left around finals. But there are more tools out there that grab nothing but media from blogs and like lists, and those work fine but they do remove everything that isn’t the art/movie/thing and so now I have over 206K pieces of media that I am glad to have saved from the void but a lot of that art isn’t signed or watermarked or anything else so now I’m wondering how to reattach that info...
I know that asshole art thieves traditionally just crop or photoshop your identifying markings off your art, but could you consider putting them on there anyway so your art remains clearly yours when it’s removed from your blog context? ;_;
The fact that there’s so many media-grabbing tools suggests that a lot of people must not care about attribution as long as they have the art, but that feels creepy for me (still trying to find a program that will actually back up everything correctly) and I feel sad that I probably won’t be able to hand-rename all those files and am probably going to forget who made a lot of them because there’s no identifying stuff in the pic. :(
(Don’t worry, I’m not going to be reposting things anywhere; just trying to get likes backed up, basically.)
