That last comment about how she's supposed to represent rebelling against gender roles really broke my brain. Like, they're literally arguing that being trans is somehow not itself a powerful rebellion against gender roles???

i think the "logic" is, if you're doing girly things and you're a trans girl, you are conforming to your actual gender's associated gender role

whereas if you're doing girly things and you're a cis boy, you are not conforming to your actual gender's associated gender role

but yeah rejecting your assigned gender and its associated gender role in one fell swoop is. obviously a powerful rebellion against gender roles. so.......
