I just found this today and I really need you to see this and spread it because omg it fits so well. Both with how Snatcher would feel in terms of trusting others after Vanessa, and with how Hat Kid must feel having been betrayed by almost everyone she meets up to this point,,

OP really hit the nail on both Snatcher and Hat Kid’s perspectives on the context of the song, and I personally really loved the sequence with Mu and the birds showing up as a flashback to emphasize the point
