// " KISS ME " FROM BACKXBITER YEA
9. Behind ear
nobody would’ve believed him, even if he’d told them face-to-face — the pajama-clad girl he’d picked up off the side of the road had made a home in his humble apartment. from a temporary annoyance to a full-blown presence in his life.
still annoying, though.
it’s a distinctly odd feeling; he’d never seen himself as a caretaker, no matter how unorthodox his methods. but there was that dumb stray cat who’d followed him home years ago, the dog who tailed him when he was a boy, the bird that frequented his window sill after he’d begun to leave out old bread for it. perhaps the universe had recognized his track record as a budding Disney princess, and had decided to up the stakes.
as all manner of strays had warmed up to him, so too did little miss Annie Leonhardt, currently situated casually between his legs on the floor of his apartment.
a nintendo 64 controller is being battered by her thumbs as she attempts to work her way through the infamous water temple, a task that is doubly difficult when the world’s most annoying back-seat gamer is functioning as her seat — as opposed to the couch at his back; the one neither of them are making use of.
it’s a distinctly intimate and wholly unnecessary position, but girl and man seem intent on ignoring — or simply not caring about — the implications entailed. the water temple, bane of 90’s children everywhere, is a far more pressing issue, and they are comfortable enough with each other by now to ‘survive’ prolonged contact.
by some miracle, Annie retrieves the boss key and meanders her way to said boss’ lair. it’s at this point that Auruo notices her hand is trembling.
he peers over her, chin grazing the side of her head. “What? You scared?”
Annie is silent for a moment; her anger at being ‘found out’ is palpable, and it makes him grin. he’d be nervous, too, after all that work, but he is a teasing bastard with an endearingly cruel streak.
“I held the controller too hard.” she states.
he’s charmed. he’s been charmed by her before, but never in his lap, never after together surviving the gauntlet of the worst Ocarina of Time temple by far.
he’s so charmed, in fact, that it seems the most rational thing in the world to nestle his nose into her blonde locks and kiss the thin shell of her ear. “Ease up, babe.” he instructs her in that flirtatious growl usually reserved for ‘harmless teasing.’
her fingers digging suddenly into his thigh are a good indication that this is not ‘harmless teasing.’
”Uh—” dumb. hasty.
her icy eyes never waver, but her cheeks do flush. she fixes him with her brilliant blue stare, twisted around in his lap. "…Do that again."
he doesn’t need to be told twice.
Annie defeats Morpha with Auruo's mouth on her neck and his hands up her shirt, and henceforth he is never again allowed to criticize her Zelda skills.
